looks like a sdi intake with the airfilter casted in..

Is that housing on the far end with the rad cap part of the manifold? I suspect it might have an air to water intercooler integrated into the manifold. Integrated manifold/intercooler setups are quite common on marine diesels.

The manifold looks exactly like the 1.6d from the Mk1 golf/Caddy with the airfilter built in, the runners look the same as the 1X manifold.
