On our 06' Golf, (early car "J" code), we are experiencing some crazy power steering squeaking/squealing when the wife takes off while turning. The fluid level is good and isn't leaking. It sure is a head turner, does anyone have anywhere I can investigate?

Alternator pulley or tenisioner pulley. My bet, the alternator pulley.

If you decide to do it yourself you will need the tool, I am unaware of a work around on the pulley fitting.

Check both by removing the serpentine belt and spinning the tenisioner pulley. It should spin freely with little if any noise. Get a small screwdriver and insert it into the fins of the alternator through the slots that are in the alternator body. With your hand turn the pulley it should spin in one direction and not the other.

I did replace the tensioner this year, however you guys totally jogged my memory, when the alternator is under a load it is much worse, example:turning on the brights. This must be the common denominator? Sound legitimate?
