CR170 Turbo Lag & Kerma vs Malone Tune

Has anyone seen turbo lag issues when going from the CR140 to CR170?

Stock, I see no difference between the two. But when I had the best Kerma tune on my CR140 turbo, the power came on much sooner than the Malone stage 3 tune with the CR170 turbo.

It's kind of ruined the car for me a bit. I loved the quick, low-end power of the Kerma tune but I lost that.

Has anyone else had this experience and was Malone able to fix it with tuning? I think it's just a fuel mapping issue Malone can fix.

Thanks so much.

I don't see any noticeable lag.
That being said, once I installed the turbo, tune, and CP3, I got some logs and sent them over to Malone for them to make any needed adjustments. There were only slight tweaks made, and no noticeable difference.

Thanks. That helps.

Is your CP3 higher pressure than stock? If so, how much, and did it reduce MPG?

Believe the stock CP4 on MK6 platform was 1600 bar and CP3 would do 1800bar. The CP3 takes less torque to drive so likely to see an increase in MPG if you drive exactly the same.

I saw no noticeable increase in mileage with the CP3 on the stage 3 tune

Bar, as in psi, correct? So the CP3 has higher pressure than the CP4? And you're saying that the higher pressure should give better atomization of the fuel, producing better MPG? Just making sure I'm not misunderstanding you.

I went with the CP3 for the reliability upgrade.

The theoretical improved mileage comes from reduced "parasitic drag" that it causes on the timing system.
