checking oil the other day and found the wire harness behind the battery neg cable unsheathed. looks like battery terminal corrosion ate away the tape covering the harness. it just flakes away when touched exposing the 1000 or so very small gauge wires inside. looked but did not see any damage on the insulation to the wires themselves. am going to remove battery and clean the harness with a little baking soda in water, then flush with fresh water then retape the harness back up. probably put a plastic conduit cover over that area also. Is there anything else I should do to not have wire problems later on?

anyone else seen this area of harness damaged behind the battery?

Clean the grounds underneath. Also look at the wire bundle(s) under there for any damage. Clean the battery case, top off electrolyte with distilled water, give it a nice long trickle charge.
