Changed ABS pump, using original controller. Lots of errors

Hello guys.

Due to a problem where the oil wasn't returning after releasing the brake pedal, the source of the problem was located in the mechanical part of the ABS unit.
So, I got a new (used) ABS module and exchanged the parts so I would use the original eletronic parts, but with that used hydraulics.

Car now brakes okay, but seems like a Christmas tree... ABS error, ESC error, park assist error, start & stop error...
I can clean the errors, but 1s later they surface again (in every module).

The eletronic part (original) reference number starts with 3Q0 but the hydraulics unit starts with 5Q0.
I have a VAGCOM cable with VCDS software. Reading the ABS module I can see the coding is there. Since I changed the mechanical part, is it necessary to perform some coding? If yes where I can read more about it?

A note: when car started for the first time, the steering was hard, after 10s (+/-) it started to soften like normal. Would a calibration solve this?

The car is a VW Passat from 2015 (3G5) and the used ABS module is from a Golf VII.

Mixing hydraulics and electronics from different ABS units....that sounds like a lot of problems just waiting to happen. When the battery has been disconnected (or module unplugged), many warning lights will go out after a short drive, as the modules find their "home position" or whatever again.
Maybe you can try some of the "Basic Settings" functions in the ABS module to see if that addresses some issues (you have to do some of those anyway to fill the ABS pump and purge air).

You might get some additional help posting this question over at the Ross-tech forums (looks like you're using VCDS).

Thanks for the reply. I'm using VCDS in a non official way...
As for the purging air, we did it without starting the car, battery was disconnected. Car brakes okay but there's also a light in dashboard to check brakes and contact workshop.

You cannot properly purge air from ABS with battery disconnected. The pump needs to be electrically activated, while 2bar of pressure is applied to master cylinder. The car will continue to give you errors until you go through the "basic settings" process using VCDS or ODIS (possibly OBDeleven can do this to - but I have never used it so do not know).

Thank you for the reply. Since I'm using VCDS, it's easy to perform such task? I mean, once I select the option to purge, there are tooltips or guides on what to do each step?

I found this on the Ross Tech site.

Thanks for the help :)

Although, I feel that my problem resides on not performing the basic settings in VCDS. As you can see in the log I showed, ABS controller has the original coding, so it was not lost.

Any idea of which basic setting I should do first? Would this sequence be correct (taken from ELSA Win and it's for my car)?

Extra info:
  • steering wheel shows the correct angle. Example: at 0 degrees, wheels are centered, turn to the left completely and it shows 80 degrees.
  • speed sensors (are these the ABS sensors?) are okay, they all report the correct speed. None stuck at 0 km/h.

One of the problems you’re facing is it looks like you have a pirated chinese copy of vcds so Ross Tech will not help you if you call them.

Did you try and drive the car yet? Many of those lights go off after a few hundred feet. The car resets some things on it’s own.

Yes, it's a pirated version but fully working. I did drive the car, already has 20km after getting all back together.
