I was able to slide the connector about 1/2 inch and can see it moves at an angle up and out but it won't slide more than 1/2 inch.. is there a hidden locking pin somewhere? I tried lubing it with wd40 and prying and hammering with leverage and it won't budge. Don't want to break it. What's the trick?

It sounds like you're doing the right thing. IIRC the locking tab prevents it from moving at all. I'd keep trying to slide it, in and out.

Where is the locking tab? Maybe it's half engagaged and ****ing with me. :D*** did VW have to make a simple connector so complicated?

BUMP Matshu****er Anyone? Sorry for the 3 and 4 leeter words. They weren't that bad were they? I think it was appropriate under the circumstance, having spent 1/2 an hour and still couldn't get the fricken connector off.!
