Heading out now for a last day in Glacier NP and then in to Canada, but first, some pics from yesterday's Hidden Lake hike:

In August - Yes...

Great view:

And finally some decent Mountain Goat pics:

Great Pictures! I-5 up by Shasta Lake should be re-opened completely by the time you get to the area. Some idiot tossed a cigarette and started a fire that is now several acres.

Thanks for the info! I had no idea. We are in Calgary Canada tonight & will be heading to Vancouver Canada or northern Washington somewhere tomorrow. I am currently making good use of the ridiculous $15 internet fee here and uploading tons of pics and videos from today. Had a successful day which included a moose sighting and some Bighorn sheep. :)

That moose calf is thinking, "What an awesome car! Wish I could have a TDI."

Finally home. :) today was quite entertaining. Saw Aaron (bora), visited crater lake, watched a huge thunderstorm flood Klamath Falls, OR, & covered the last 600 miles of our trip. It's good to be back. Tired as ever, time to get some sleep. Need to be at work in 5 hours. ;)

Great pictures. Great car. Looks like a really great trip. It inspires me to plan a road trip like that some day.

how was crater lake?
Probably round, deep, and wet. ;)
What he said... :D, really though, it was very nice.

Not covered in snow, like at Christmas time.
Not really. I will get pics up later. Had to be at work yesterday followed by some appointments... The post road-trip dust will settle this week I hope.

DO IT! I can't wait to do it again!

And I finally added up all the information on the trip. There is one thing to mention about the Odometer. It's fairly accurate. :) We counted miles using the mile-markers on the freeway in 100 mile stretches and on 3 seperate occasions confirmed that the Odometer reads 1% less miles than actually traveled.

Odometer at the beginning of our trip: 234650
Odometer at the end of our trip: 239791
Miles per Odometer: 5141
Corrected miles (Actual miles driven): 5192

We made 7 fuel stops on the trip, and I include the last fill from yesterday in order to see how the MPG was for the whole trip. They went as follows:

Odo Mi Gal $/Gal MPG Where Filled
234747 810 13.010 3.739 62.26 Stockton, CA
235353 606 11.629 3.649 52.11 Wendover, UT
236106 473 11.769 3.489 63.98 Castle Rock, CO
236867 761 11.682 3.409 65.14 Jackson Hole, WY
237711 844 12.773 3.799 66.08 Kalispell, MT
238514 803 13.166 4.917 60.99 Revelstoke, BC Canada
239168 654 10.525 3.739 62.14 Vancouver, WA
239841 673 11.161 3.999 60.299Vacaville, CA

with a trip average MPG of 61.618 US MPG. If we correct for odometer error this becomes 62.234 US MPG.

We burned 83.434 Gallons of diesel at a cost of $323.08

(Calculated by only using the portion of the first and last tank that were actually driven on the trip. This was assuming consisten MPG through those tanks.)

We drove through:

2 Countries:
USA
Canada

9 states:

California
Nevada
Utah
Colorado
Wyoming
Montana
Idaho
Washington
Oregon

2 Provinces in Canada:
Alberta
Britich Columbia

4 US National Parks
Grand Teton
Yellowstone
glacier
Crater Lake
We also had one mechanical failure... :(
The passenger mirror glass came unglued and fell off. I picked up and installed a replacement in Kelowna Canada. :D

Nice! That's pretty phenom mileage.
You've persuaded me to go sans power steering. (I'm not giving up AC though ;-)
On other fronts, i think it's time the RatRod TDI corrado's map sensor got "Franked!"

I watched the vid, where you guys stopped on the mountain. It was snowy/slippery. Corrado definately is a diesel. Question is what engine in it?. I'm going to guess. Alh....Again excellent pics and video. That GoPro is pretty amazing with the vid footage as well as mic. It looked like it was mounted super solid on your car.

It was very slippery. If you dig through the other videos I have in YouTube you will see the luckiest guy alive pilot his beautiful 1Z powered Corrado off the road unintentionally.

The GoPro is mounted using the standard GoPro suction cup and it's wired with an external mic.
