Had my buyback appointment today. Pretty quick (15 minutes) and painless. Got a physical receipt and email receipt before I left. The one weird thing was that the dealership did not have any signage or direction for the buyback (where to park, who to see). I asked a service adviser and he directed me to a small office. The buyback was about $50 higher than I expected.

The toughest part was removing my license plates in the cold.

First time without a diesel in the household in 14 years, weird feeling.

Turned mine in this morning, all went well. I took the spare along with the tools and pass side mirror glass and no questions asked. Agent did not even open the hood or trunk. Now waiting for the email from JP Morgan.

Turned in mine yesterday at 2pm. Received email to transfer money to my account at 7:30 pm today. Looks like by Monday or Tuesday the money should be in my account and the nightmare will be over.

They're going to have a record of who has the roadside assistance. Have your VIN handy, call 'em up (1-800-411-6688), and schedule your tow.

Still have no idea why the buyback agent got an error message when entering my mileage, but I assume the long delay in getting the IT code fix was influenced by the holidays.

2014 Passat SE 6MT returned to dealer 1/6/17 in Western MA. Financed through VW Credit.
Settlement did not include most recent payment made (12/9/16), and next payment is due Monday. Will call VW Credit for 10 day payment extension. Hope to see VW Credit return the ~$500 excess that they will receive from VWOA, and hope to avoid making payment on 1/9.
No Chase email yet, but it's the weekend.

Dropped mine off today and like almost everyone else, it went smoothly and pleasantly. I got the e-mail receipt while still in the office chatting with the agent. No bag of goodies though or coupon for money off a new VW. No one even came up to me or asked if I was interested in a new one. (Maybe because the snowstorm in NY had just begun and it was already coming down heavy).They did though cheerfully give me a ride to where I asked.
On the way out I looked back to see my 121k mile '09 TDI of the past 8 years parked next to the fence in the dealer's lot. And feeling kind of guilty, like I'd just dropped the faithful but old family dog off at the pound before going off to look for a cute new puppy.

mine went yesterday , no issues at all, only weird thing was I assumed a salesperson from the dealer would be there to try to sell me another vw, nope no one from the dealership was there to say a word to me, good thing I was not shopping for another vw I guess, weird but whatever.

The service group from VW took our title - signed Power of Attorney - removed and brought in our plates and took pictures of the VW. Then she entered into VW return web site. Web site went down before she could complete her entries. She called and was told server went down. After server came back up 90 minutes later, she could not access our file and could not complete the transaction. They got a ticket from their IT department that was to complete the transaction later last night. We would get confirmation via email that it was complete. No email yet. She was able to process other returns after ours. We are now in limbo. Does anyone know who runs the buy back program for VW. I'm looking for someone to call to fix this.

Suggest you communicate with forum member "bring". He had a similar problem, appareently now resolved. He may be able to give you some insights.

I actually went to the vw dealer that was storing my tdi 5 hours early to check on it and the buyback specialist was able to take me then instead of having to come back at 6:30pm. Painless and super fast process.

I did buyback Wednesday (4th) and have no received $yet. I got the email Thursday, did everything to have transfer that night. Just patiently waiting for my money lol.

Shell station across from my work has straight D2 and the local Kroger does as well in central Illinois, not that it currently matters for myself. Verified through local distributor. I do know it is harder to find in the Burbs where i grew up though.

Couple weeks late posting my experience, turned car in on 12/15, got email from chase 12/16 5pm PST, money in account by Monday morning, was driving my new project B5 S4 i bought that morning with the buyback money. Super smoother experience less then 20 minutes. Buyback guy was drooling over my R for 5 of those 20 minutes.

What a shame

Turned in my 2014 Passat TDI today. Opted for a physical check, which there and in an envelope waiting for me at the end of the transaction. Woman opened the envelope, and as she did so accidently and tore the check in half!

She checked with their bank, and they said it should still be good... I'll find out in the morning when I deposit it. It'll take just a day to clear and I'll be good to go.

But... What a shame. This was going to be the last car I was ever going to buy. At 67K miles the engine was just broken in. Averaged 46 MPG. Best tank went 927 miles @55.5mpg.
