Brown haze on the inside of my windshield

hey there everyone! i recently started noticing a brown haze on the inside of my windshield, when i scrape it off with my fingernail it looks black. there is also a weird smell in the cabin while its running, kinda smells like exhaust but i'm not sure. its not completely unbearable but i just want to know if its dangerous. Thanks in advance!

It might be exhaust. Especially if your egr pipe connections are leaking a little. My car did the same thing until I traced the exhaust leak down.

Technically, yes. I definitely wouldn't slack on trying to chase it down. Soapy water and cold starts will help find it.
