Has anyone done this? A friend of mine would like to get a VW TDI but the Jetta is too small for his wants. What about a TDI Passat?

Has anyone done (or heard of anyone doing) this?

TIA.

It is not feasable. You can see the reasons for yourself at the NHTSA and DOT web sites under importing non-compliance vehicles.

------------------
96 TDI Wagon, ABS, emerald green
00 Jetta TDI GLS, silver arrow, CWP, LUX1, etc, etc.

Simply go to the NHTSA website, look up the qualified vehicle importers and give them a call, they can answer your questions. It isn't THAT hard to do, but it is expensive.

It's the closest thing to impossible. It would be cheaper and faster to buy a B5 in the U.S. and do a TDI conversion.

Yeah, we all want the TDI in the passat wagon. Might as well throw in the V6 with the 6 speed and 4 motion AWD. Make it white, with tan leather. Maybe the new Microbus.....

But two words for you, DREAM ON! Find a used 96 and 97. The passat came in a TDI those years, and I see them plugging around.

Please use the search function, and you will see that this is has been hashed ad nauseum.
