1.9 mk4 tdi alh, lifter started knocking day before I was taking it in for an oil change and is still tapping after oil change. Gonna be £700+ to fix with new camshaft and belt. Just wondering if there is any chance a miracle additive of some type might possibly do something? Just worth a shot before spending so much.
I'm also in two minds as to even have it fixed, atleast not immediately, Garage says it still runs mechanically sound and it's just annoying the sound. It's not a deep tick just slight but still noticeable. Will much more damage occur if not fixed immediately? I know its wearing on the camshaft but if I'm gonna have that replaced at some point it surely doesn't matter? Cheers
