ac condenser removal

Hi I need to replace the condenser on my 2012 passat . Ive removed the bumper and grill and wonder do I have to remove the entire front assembly to get at it ?

They do not sell that car here, but most modern VAG products have the condenser, radiator, intercooler, and fans all set as an assembly inside the lock carrier. You may be able to support this assembly from below, then remove the lock carrier off the front of the car, which will expose the condenser and it just comes right off easily.

thanks when you say lock carrier is that the black framework which holds the bonnet lock assembly ? and crosses the full width of the car ?Ive searched extensively for you tube videos for this job on a B7 and found nothing

Yes, it is the big composite piece that everything attaches to.
