I have a 2001 Jetta ALH, with 320k
The car is originally from Atlanta GA, where im sure the AC was used VERY often...
Now that the car is a buffalo car, I use it very rarely, but latley we have had a heat wave, so I been useing it more.... in the last week it was cool then started acting wierd.
so I decided to look into it a bit.
checked the Pressure in the system low side running its at 45-50 ish seems right on to me. but I did notice when the car is running the compressior kicks on and off randomly when its on the air in the car comes out cool, when off its warm.... Highway driving it works ok, Idleing the car will overheat. and the air coming out is hott.
Is it the compressor? condenser? some sensor? whats common problems?
Here in ruff buffalo NY we dont use the AC much and or dont usually care about it... but I plan to take the car down to NC next month REALLLY would like to have this resolved.
