I know this is super old thread but I saw that you are still active on here so thought I would give this a shot. I am also thinking of making our B4 wagon our toad but the only tow bar plate I found is Roadmaster 1219-1 at $400. Did you have luck fabricating something?

Does anyone have the toe spec for a 96 b4 wagon? Toe zeroed out isn't it, I believe they're supposed to be a few degrees in? I've got camber at zero.

Test battery as easiest test, these pull a lot of amps for glow plugs then cold start. Next is test the glow plugs and their circuit. Low battery and lazy glow plugs are any diesel's sweet spot for no start Sent from my VS501 using Tapatalk

You may also be able to see if a pending fault and freeze frame showing a crazy reading for ECT Sent from my VS501 using Tapatalk

A quickie check is your top radiator hose vs bottom to see if thermostat stuck open. Should show great difference during cold start then even out if thermostat opens. If you begin fairly even then may be stuck open. If you don't have a temp gun you can use hand touch but of course be careful...
