Audi A4, limp mode vs MAF

Hi all,

I have a 2007 Audi A4, 2.0 TDI, the 125 kW model.

In summer I encounter limp mode, mostly when the outside temperature climbs above 28 degrees C. It does happen at lower temps, but much less often.

Based on this thread I unplugged the MAF. Performance seems to better. Fuel consumption is the same without the MAF. I drove 10 km yesterday, with outside temperature of 32 degrees C, without limp mode, but just before I got home it did go into limp mode twice within a few hundred meters of each other.

Question:
Can it still be the MAF that is at fault? It bothers me that I still get limp mode, though I did drive the car quite harder than usual to try and see whether the removed MAF solved anything. The fact that the car drives better and has the same fuel economy without the MAF makes me feel that the MAF is buggered.

*Note - I hope this is the correct forum, couldn't find a better fit.
