Ok... Got a decent scan done on my Transmission.
Now I've got this list of codes and have no Idea where to start looking.

I found a great thread here: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=167421

but it doesn't really say anything about a resolution for these issues, and none of them sound like they are an easy fix.

Any help would be AWESOME.

ok... pulled out the seat and found a dry, non-corroded 3B0927156AP...

Anything to do other than swap it out?

Is the TCM repairable, my skill set included soldering on PC and electronics boards?

After more searching. I'm going to replace the alternator (it's bad) first before I keep digging on this issue. (Crossing fingers that is just the bad alternator causing more troubles)

This is less codes than before the alternator. I'm hoping it's a wiring issue.
Tomorrow I'm going to inspect the harness to the TCM. I read on here about a "Brown Wire" that can be an issue.

The previous owner stated that the car went into limp mode after hitting a puddle. So I'm hopeful that it's just a wiring gremlin that needs to be tracked down.

Extra Question. When put in Triptronic mode... is the car supposed to shift anyway. I thought it was supposed to say in gear until it was manually changed?

Thanks in advance

"Brown Wires" are grounds. A bad ground can cause lots of problems. Good luck!

Hopefully tonight I'll get to dig into the wiring.

The transmission feels solid on the road. It's smooth and shifts well.

However... It doesn't listen to inputs. I put it in 2... and it keeps on shifting up through all the gears.
I'm not sure if that's a symptom or the nature of the beast.

The behavior described by former owner may be due to the multifunction switch on the transmission. Its in a spot where its sensitive to moisture/rain. It can effect tiptronic.

Thanks thundershorts I'll be on the lookout for that. I've got a can of wiredry and a fresh tube of dielectric grease.

I'm quite handy with low voltage electronics... are there any test points to look for open/shorts or proper ohm readings?

Follow the wire harness back from the tcm until you come to a splice in the brown wire.
Redoing that splice has cured a lot of problems in the past!

Yep... Cut the "splice" out. Soldered new connection. Car acts exactly the same.

So we're back to... Wiring (tranmission side) Bad TCM or Bad Transmission.
