For anyone who plans on arriving early Friday afternoon, we have a great event planned for you!

From 2:00pm - 4:00pm on Friday, the operations department at Sunday River is offering a complimentary tour of their behind-the-scenes operations. This facility houses large air compressors and water pumps that distribute compressed air and water to over 70 miles of pipe and hundreds of snow guns canvassing the mountain and its seven peaks. Also available for drooling over will be the fleet of 400+ hp diesel powered Pisten Bully and other models of Snow Cats that groom the mountain's slopes during the winter season. Stop by and see how this gigantic ski resort makes its own snow in the winter time!

Again, this event is open and free to all TDIFest attendees! No reservations are necessary, but it would be nice to get a rough head count so the resort knows how many people to expect.

If you're going to be on the mountain by 2pm on Friday and are interested in taking this tour, please post in this thread! :D

Some of those Winch Cat operators are insane. I watched them one night from my tent on an opposing mountain and was some impressed. They were grooming stuff so steep you can stand straight up and still plunge your hands into the snow. I needed crampons and my ice axes to climb the slope when they were done.

I would love to attend but I have to work and only have part of Saturday to attend the Fest. :(

We have to sneak car54 in one of those and have him do a doughnut NASCAR style! Post the video on You tube...

They won't have their tracks because it's not anywhere close to snow season. They keep them rolled up to prevent UV damage during the summer. :(
