I keep reading this damn'd thread...For a year and a half I touch base with this information...Watching for some deminted wacko who's drivin one of OUR cars. I've made it my mission. Analyzed each and every one of the lines since July 2003....Happy to report there's no obsessed wacko's here.
This should close this thread once and for all. Nowthen, I have to get to my garage...Rainex is about 6 days old...I know, I know, I been slackin.

ps: i hope you didn't use <font color="red">[insert name of hated oil here]</font> on that cake, that stuff is terrible. i recommend using <font color="green"> [insert name of loved oil here]</font> for any vw tdi cake.

I'm at 148k miles now. My TDI's "birthday" (first day of me owning/driving it) is 5/15/2002. Looks like I'll be well past 150k miles by 5/15/2005.

You know you're obsessed with your TDI after logging 148k miles in stock form and then decide to chip it and do a clutch upgrade on it. Rocketchip Stage 3 rocks!

Makes me wonder why I kept it stock for so long.

Definitely not going back to stock now!

You know you're obsessed when... you casually cruise the parking lots of shopping centers, airports, and sports venues looking for TDI badges on VWs so as to place a "Fred's card" in the drivers door handle...or so Mrs. V tells me... And if she says that I get out to sniff NB pipes to determine if they pack a TDI, that's just not true. NBs are SOL, unless they are badged like my brother's was.

Im new to all this..and i found some of these interesting..ive owned my vw 2.0 tdi dsg a week, and its been at the dealers more than its been home....

broken rear door lock, paint chips on the back door, and now, it wont run when cold properly. its stalled once for no reason...and hates to run when cold, takes 5 kilometres or so to warm up...
and i still love the dam thing!!!!!

i hope they get my issues fixed tho..off to service on tuesday

you visit every VW dealership within a 150 mile radius of home to find the best service department so you can reward it with the TDI purchase and subsequent service visits...

you put off (for 3 months) ordering a %$@#*& small gas pickup because you really wanted a small TDI pick-up-- and there aren't any.

you keep a set of glow plugs around like well-prepared (old) gassers keep spark plugs...

you ask for a torque wrench for Valentine's Day-- and your husband obliges...

you notice that the 7th digit on the odometer looks like it can progress through all of the digits (not just the 1)...

you compare the yellow on the bug to the yellow on the big cat engines at the truck stop...

you compare the size of the little yellow bug to the size of the big yellow cat engines at the truck stop...

you compare odometer readings with the truckers... and sometimes yours is bigger...

you put 255,000 miles on the bug in 4 1/2 years...

then feel bad because it takes 6 months to put on another 22,000 (not much driving this year)...

you catch yourself at the truck island at the truckstop with the taxicab (whew--caught myself just in time!)

you forget you're driving something other than the bug

and wave at another bug and wonder why they don't wave back...

you break your multi-decade vow to never work on another vehicle again (other than when getting paid or it's an emergency) <font color="red"> because of the really nice people at tdiclub who are sooooooooo helpful and understanding... </font>

You go to get the cheap #2 diesel at the truck stop b/c diesel is so high...and have to go INSIDE to explain you have a diesel car and thats its ok to turn on the pump....

Your NB is in the fuel computers of truckstops in at least 10 states.

(no longer have to go inside and expalin...)

You have a fleet fuel card (good at several truckstop chains).

The people at the fuel desk(s) don't bat an eyelash (anymore) when you present your fuel card.

You get "big truck" junk mail just for the diesel product coupons and info.

You show your TDI the pix of the big truck motors (from the junk mail) and tell it that if it eats it's veggies (and behaves itself), it'll grow up to be a big diesel someday...

Not only that, but you have a sort of 6th sense about it - a "TDI Radar" if you will.

This happened to me this morning - I was in a parking lot, and heading to the usual section I park at when all of a sudden, for some unknown reason, I swerved down to a different secton at the last moment... only to find a Silver 4-door Golf TDI... with an open spot next to it... ...for my Silver 4-door Golf TDI

Coincidence..? ...or something more?
