Anyone here have any experience with yanmar's? My brother recently bought a raider skidsteer with a 3 cyl yanmar model: 3772HLE-S.
Its been sitting for 5 years or so, ran when parked. Once the fuel system was cleaned he fired it up the engine stuttered a few seconds and then raced to full throttle billowing white smoke. I have not been there for any of this I'm only relaying information and trying to help him out. The only way he could get it to turn off was to shut off the fuel valve to the Injection pump (mechanical shut off didn't work). He pulled the pump and cleaned it. He said when he reinstalled it was perfectly clean. Bled the pump and again it did the same thing so he shut it down.
I told him it had to be the pump or possibly a stuck open injector, but far as I am aware a stuck open injector/s would not cause it to rev up like that. Because the IQ is still controlled by the pump. Which would only mean it would idle poorly.
This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the pump.
