pretty cool. Thanks for teh link - i've scanned over it and it will get a second more indepth look.

i've posted somewhere in the depths a brief history of synthetic oils that I transcribed from a book that i urge anyone with a curiosity in synthetic base stocks and base oils to read, and well there is quite a bit about applications of synthetic base stocks as well, not just automotive.

I'll see if I can dig up the link . . .

Great read, though I've only scanned over it so far. Important info on why the Allies first attacked only in North Africa: they though that cutting off access to petroleum would choke the German war machine and economy. But the Germans had been preparing for this by developing the synthetics...
