I'll try to keep an eye out for ya. I'm in a bunch of VW groups.

@Votblindub Thanks! I tried to do that for a little while via Instagram (which I rarely log into anyway since I am not a social media user,) but I missed a posting about a year ago from one of the various "rare vw parts" users. So, sets do periodically still pop up, but probably less than once per year across the places I search, e.g. eBay, Instagram, Vortex, etc.

I haven't seen a set for sale since 2015 on vortex. Even longer for a Golf set. Ebay with email updates on part number hits?

Are glass ones an option? Or is there a need for lexan mk4 headlight covers

These aren't the headlight lenses, these were an OEM accessory that you could buy. They have a part number similar to other items in DriverGear:

VWA-0029 LH or VWA-0029 RH

The Instagram set I saw too late was actually from July.

Oooohhhhhh - so these were like a protective plastic cover one would/could put over (for example) glass headlight lenses to give them some added protection.
(Similar to above, I at first thought you were just looking for plastic (Lexan) headlight lenses.)

I bought a set of those many years ago (someone in the Pacific NW was importing them from VW of Austraila), ran them until they literally fell apart from old age/UV exposure (that, and they were getting pretty sandblasted - they'd racked up the better part of 200K miles I think).

Considering they don't seal against the lights they did a surprisingly good job of keeping road schmutz off the lights too. If you're going to run them on the car, you might want to consider applying something like LaminX or XPel films to them to protect them...

I wonder what it takes to make replicas. I wouldn't care if they're OEM or whatever in the least. I could probably make my own in an oven with some glass lenses...
