As the title states:

Looking for a Jetta Sportwagen,, preferably from the original owner. Maybe someone on here has one that they want to sell?

Why look here you ask and not at the dozens of cars currently available at dealerships? Because I've looked at a number of the buyback cars and they have minor to significant issues. All had signs of neglect and deferred maintenance while others needed major repairs. I don't want to deal with that nonsense.

Prefer a 2009-2010 JSW with less than 150K miles but any year to 2014 is OK.

Let me know if you have something and the price.

I'm in California

Thx

I’ve purchased three in the past year from dealerships and they were all one owner cars with an extensive CarFax history. Even the maintained vehicles had issues. Most of these cars sat in a parking lot somewhere waiting for the fix. The one that I currently have wasn’t sold back and I’ve already replaced the battery, changed all of the fluids & filters, replaced the coolant expansion tank, replaced the leaking hatch drain tube, and wiper blades. Good luck finding one that doesn’t need anything. You can get an MK7 for the cost of an MK6. There’s a 2015 GSW a few hours from me for sale. They’re asking $8,950 and it has 107k miles.

Thanks for the info buddy. I don't need any help making decisions and I'm not interested in a Mk7 or your advice.

There are just too many to list....
Actually, I would think the fact that you made a thread AT ALL would indicate you most certainly DO need help with your decisions. ;)

I will agree that many of the buyback cars have had some issues (I even made a thread about that, because I have seen some really awful examples), but there are also some nice ones out there too. Although there are going to be fewer and fewer available as time goes on.

Of course, the low(ish) cost of these mean that minor items like a battery or wiper blades or tires are to me a non-issue.

But there are certainly some of examples out there that were NOT buybacks, and the owners kept them and did the fix, and are now disgusted with what the fix did to them and are looking to part ways. But these cars are fewer in number, but could certainly be a nice car to buy. And since they are competing price wise with the buyback cars, they may also be a good deal.

We've bought a few at auction, with none of them being a cream puff, but buying a $25k car for less than $9k with only 18k miles on the clock you have to expect something would need attention. Of course, the dealers are getting the pick of the lot, so any left at auction usually are not without at least some flaws. Often it is past body work, albeit minor usually, like repainted bumper covers.

Good luck with your search, I hope you find what you are looking for. Check the FS section here daily, I'd also check on Samba too.

the one i got had a very intensive carfax reccord, all dealer serviced. even had a dsg service not long before it was bought back. even still it shifts strange when cold. (different than the past 2 i had) look at dealers farther away. i traveled 200 mi to get my current one. it was discounted 3k because the dealer had it for almost 8 months. Was something about the color combo for people not wanting it. White-gold metallic with cornsilk beige interior. pano, nav, 17" rims, and kessy. 92k miles. dealer even threw in a 2 month b2b warrenty. that i used because of a bad starter.

I didn't ask for opinions or you to share your experiences. I looked at 4 wagons and they were all disappointments. The worst one was a 2014 CPO sportwagen that had a blown headgasket. I do not want to deal with dishonest dealers or any buyback cars.

if you have a 2009-14 send me a message.

You must be fun at parties, I’m just here to get a dickhead reply
ikr..lol. was suggesting to look at dealers farther away. here in mn i paid under book. someone is just too picky. Many on these cars were beat on when they realised what vw had to pay for them. Remember the youtube videos?

Picked mine up from Bay City Motors in Hayward, $8999 for a 2014 with 14,xxx miles. They usually always have a TDi or 2 on the lot, there’s a dealer in Fremont that had 4 or 5 on their lit when I was looking

he doesnt want to have to look at lots apparently. He wants someone on here. (original owner) To sell theirs. Like someone who kept theirs through the emissions debacle would have a low miles car let alone be wanting to sell it. Most of them have had the bare min to get them up to snuff.
i lucked out. mine went through the cpo process of checks. I even was able to get under it. and it came with a list of what they had serviced on it. I did have to change the battery still. It "passed" the test but was getting weak.

Like I already said. I looked at a CPO 2014 sportwagen that obviously had coolant in the oil. I saw it, The salesman saw it and the service writer saw it. They sold it to someone else the next day after I told them I'd be stupid to buy this car.

I don't trust the CPO stamp of approval as clearly the car had serious issues and they just unethically passed them down to the buyer because they didn't want to fix it. The other 3 cars I looked at also had issues, which the dealer did not fix prior to putting it up for sale.

NO, I DO NOT want to hear about the CPO car you bought and how great it was. I do not want a buyback car. If someone has a 2009-2014 that is in good condition and doesn't need a bunch of deferred maintenance or major repairs please send me a message. If you're the original owner than that is even better.
