Looking to buy a good used cylinder head, for my 2001 Beetle 1.9L TDI, that I will then send to Franko6 to clean up and check. The head I have now is working fine for everyday getting around/commuting, but it's leaking combustion gases into the coolant when driven hard. I have 0.205 injectors waiting to go in, but until I solve this problem, there's no use installing them. Why I think I need to do the head gasket again. (yes, I should have had the original head decked, but there were no machine shops near me that I felt knew what they were doing). I don't want to be down weeks sending my own head off to Frank.

Anyone have a good, used, complete (with cam and lifters), never been overheated cylinder head they'd like to sell? If so, PM me details. Thanks!

Resurrecting this thread. Drove back from another town where there's a long but not crazy uphill grade and coolant temps went from 190F to 200F in those few (4?) miles. Outside temps were only 84 degree.

So the beetle works fine for every day use and even having some fun, but not for prolonged fun or prolonged grades. It is not blowing coolant out the ball either.

Anyways, if someone has or knows of a good deal on a good used head, let me know.

No coolant flowing to the ball seems more like a bad water pump. How much are you looking to spend on the cylinder head? I have one on a running alh out of a 2000 beetle. I imagine shipping might be a bit though from FL to you.

It's not blowing out of the ball. Flow is fine.
Hoping for $150 or less before shipping. I should check out some Pick Your Part lots.
