I was at a dealer yesterday and i didnt see much gap between the rim and rotors on a 2010 Golf. I'm getting my car next month, but don't want to wait that long to buy winter tires bc of short supply in Ontario.

I know Golf Highline has 16's as standard, but would 15"s clear the rotors?

Thanks for the help,

I'm not sure what you guys get up there in Canada-hey, but down here the 2.5L gasser 2010 Golfs are coming with 15" steel rims. The TDI's get 17" alloys. So you should be good with 15" rims. Sportwagens (Golf wagons) come with 16" wheels and apparently their front brakes are larger so 15's won't work.

i bet your spare is a 15" rim.
i like your idea, i guess i can go to a dealer and see if they have a 5dr and i can look into the spare.

it's just that i dont want to wait to get winter tires too late.

thanks for all the help
