Where did you hear this news?
The new owner is Alex. I was speaking with him yesterday, about getting my fog lights wired up, when he told me. He had originally planned to re-open Impex at the beginning of the new year, but he wants to make sure all the details including a new web page, are complete, before he does. So, he's looking at the second week in January.

That is fine, but I think some people will be 'optimistically cautious' after having to do a chargeback on their credit cards.

Transition or no transition, that cost WI some faith and trust issues.

Not impressed with the way they handled / are handling the transition.

not at all. extremely unprofessional... or at least totally inept. it should have been obvious there were going to be problems, so the first thing that should have been done was simply take the website down. how hard can that be, seriously?

also, you would think if the owner actually cared and was involved in any meaningful way, they would have an account on tdiclub (and vortex) and have explained the situation already...

I always felt alex was the problem, not the solution.
FWIW Over the years that I dealt with Impex, whenever I dealt with Alex or John, the transaction went smoothly, as promised and arrived expeditiously. However, with Joey, it left a lot to be desired, and left a bad taste in my mouth. With Andrew, recently, I will defer comment. However, if he is part of the new team, I'm out.

Folks, www.worldimpex.com will officially be under new ownership Jan/2014. Year one we expect to change the website layout while adding many new items such as performance products, auto detailing products, and additional automotive related products.

We are very excited while preparing to only better the business by expanding the product lines and encouraging additional target markets in the diesel and gasoline markets.

This is a mom and pop shop offering online ordering of North American and Eurospec parts while additionally catering to the local community. We are enthusiast who own and drive many of the same cars as you!

The New World Impex hopes to continue the positive relationships that will allow us to continue more than 20 years of sales to the local and online community. Remember we have been around since you subscribed to prodigy, earthlink, and aol online in the 90's!

An email will be sent to all customers in the www.worldimpex.com data base with an active email address once new management/ownership is officially prepared to offer the service one expects.

That's great and all, but what is your plan for handling the thousands (tens of?) of dollars worth of outstanding parts orders?

You took our money, but nobody answers the phone, nobody answers email, hell - nobody answers the shop door!

Is it unreasonable to expect some COMMUNICATION if you intend to hold our money without shipping parts?

Now you have a bunch of angry customers on your hands and all you can do is hop on here and say hey guys we are reopening soon and expanding our blah blah blah!

you are correct. I got my A's mixed up. Andrew is what I meant to say.

oops on me =(

Hopefully John returns, otherwise I just dont see Impex being successful.

Especially when they have hung their customers out to dry and don't even answer the phones anymore. Great to hear about the new business plans, but a little work to satisfy those who are waiting on orders would be a LOT better than some smoke and mirrors about the new worldimpex.

I guess either way I haven't had an issue including a couple months ago with them getting some harder to find rear hatch wiring harnesses and an airbag sensor from them. Maybe I did it just in time. Either way hopefully this gets sorted out and there are more happy customers (better then angry ones like a few I read).

Notice to World Impex Customers

On December 30, 2013 an agreement was reached between Impex World Parts, Inc. formally known as World Impex Inc. and newly formed World Impex Inc. to resume offering automotive parts. Business transaction prior to December 30, 2013 need to be addressed with Impex World Parts,Inc. at this time we have not been provided any forwarding/contact info. The agreement we entered into was for assets only not the company. We acquired the name World Impex Inc. after a name change was made by the owners.

As a long term customer (13 yrs) and now owner, our goal is to carry on the tradition of supplying quality parts, quick and accurate delivery at reasonable price points. Because I was a regular customer I got to know World Impex, attended many of the annual events and as many became friends with like minded employees and customers.

It's our goal to replicate that same experience we had for so many years with World Impex, for our customers moving forward. We will be investing to increase efficiencies to stay competitive while expanding parts offered. We are open to your input and suggestions and look forward to sourcing your automotive parts needs. We're working on reopening on or about January 20th, 2013. In the meantime we have lots to accomplish and will be onsite if you're local feel free to stop by and say hello. You may recognize a few faces and the phone number is the same.

... is almost suggestive that people who made actual purchases under the old World Impex would be left hanging. I doubt anyone would do that, but the new owners should make it clear in their public statement, in order to reassure people they aren't going to be scammed or something.

I called World Impex multiple times on different days, weeks apart, since placing an order on 12/17 and being charged the next day. I finally got through to someone on the phone (Jan 8th) after calling repeatedly and trying every extension listed in their phone menu. The person on the other end told me that they have no records of any orders and instructed me to call my bank and have them reverse the transaction! I guess anyone else still waiting on parts should do the same.

Businesses can fail gracefully without ripping off their customers and creating a lot of bad blood.

It can be very very expensive to fail gracefully, so it comes down to a moral thing. I know, it costs me tens of thousands of dollars. But all of my customers got their merchandise.

I did this a while ago. Annoyingly it takes up to 60 days for TD Bank to get it processed  Yes... America's most convenient bank

Why would you buy the name "World Impex" if you know the previous owners left without fulfilling orders? and then not help affected customers by giving original owners contact info? Bad taste in my mouth at this point.

Alex and anyone else who works for WI should not be wasting their time posting perhaps misleading posts on here and instead be spending their time contacting the customers who have been left hanging for over a month! I placed an order on the 6th of December and have had no contact from them at all, despite many attempts on my part to call them.
My bank has not refunded my money. To me this all looks like fraud and lousy business practices.
