Address for GTG and other misc info

Quick shout out to member Algirdas for getting us the hook up at Dubwerx in Cincinnati. More details to come, so stay tuned.

I am not entirely sure what tools and such we will have access (though between all of us we probably have all the necessary specialty tools to completely tear down one of these cars). Stay tuned...

For now, their address is
5591 Wooster Pike
Cincinnati, Oh. 45227

Its official, Dubwerx is hosting our GTG on Feb 20th, reynolcj myself and Algirdas just got done working out the initial details.
Dubwerks is all in allowing us to use their space and even a lift if we have the need.
Current plan is to start at 10am, CinciTDI will provide lunch (burgers, dogs, etc) at noonish and go on through the day as long as we need to.

Right now we are looking at any topside work that needs to be done, anything else needs to be done by request. So... Any requests?

Can someone put on Struts for me?

Hi Guys..I can definintely make it. Can someone put on a set of struts for me ('01 New Beetle) Mine are completley shot (134K on them). I can do the rear shocks, but struts are beyond me. I think I can get a complete kit from DieselGeek? TIA, Doogie

Keep the requests coming! Please note that a request doesn't mean it will be done. we just want to get an idea of what folks are wanting done and we can divvy up the time accordingly. We may not know until the day of, depending on how many people show up.
It may be that each person does their own work with the guidance of a guru.

All that to say, request away!

If i don't get to these items before then here is my request list

fuel filter-i don't have a mighty vac-yet.
trans fluid (manual)
maybe intercooler check/clean?

a couple bigger jobs that i would like to learn how to do would be a nozzle swap and how to remove the door cards to reupholster them and replace the handles.

I will be wanting to install my Doniol Boost/EGT Gage.. I will bring the EGT Thermocouple, and will need help of someone who is good with wiring to make sure I don't screw anything up.

I can bring just about all of my tools with me to help out. but my first priority will be my new gage.

10am is almost lunchtime sometime between 8 or 9 would be better :) I work better in the mornin

I will definitely watch and help where I can Growler. I haven't done it before but I can do wiring.
I have a message out to Algirdas to see if we can start earlier. I don't think it will be a problem, hes as excited as the rest of us for this.

Algirdas hopes to have a few projects in process, possibly tearing down an injection pump, his A3 intake removed for cleaning, not sure what else.

How big is this facility? That will determine what projects we can do.

Doug, I'm willing to bring the tools and supervise your work. Eric and I have done a bunch of A4 struts/shocks. Would definitely be helpful if shop air is available when compressing springs. Metalmanparts.com has a great deal on a bilstein TC kit with everything to install. idpart.com is having a sale on Konis.

I'll be available for little stuff. No intent to wrench on my stuff.

Dubwerx does VW/AUDI service, APR tunes, and fabrication/exhausts. Shop has 2 lifts, air, etc, but its in one large bay and crowded.

Being my first time involved with hosting a GTG, I'm apprehensive I might take on too much,
but trust the more seasoned members for guidance/planning to run a smooth event.

I counted 15 interested, so if it goes to 20 or 30 people with 1/3 to 1/2 of us doing a project, that should fill the day.
Growler: We can start at 8am, I've got a couple 7am wake up calls scheduled to get me rollin.

What kind of Parking lot do They have? If theres room outside little things can be done there too. I wont need a lift for my work, just a quiet corner of a lot. and hopefully some warmth. :) I might pack my Kerosene heater if it looks cold.

Paramedick, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I promise not to bug you too much! I would love to be able to do a set of struts, I've just never done any before. Shocks I can handle...been doing those since I was a kid! (I'm 42 now!) I just ordered a kit from idparts.com, listed here: http://www.idparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=36_63&products_id=414

I also ordered 2 sway bar links. I figured since I would be in there.....

Should I order a "bolt kit"? Seems (in retrospect) a good idea..

Time to watch as many video "VW Strut Replacement video's" as I can find :)

Thanks again Paramedick!

Don't know if I'm going to be able to make it just yet, but won't be bringing a TDI either anyway. Sounds like a long over due GTG and that Dubwerx will be an excellent place to have it?
CoJones: Get me the receipts for food and whatever you purchase and I'l be sure you're reimbursed from the CinciTDI coffers. Let me know if you need my VAGcom cable or any of my tools or items from the spare parts box.

I can make it, I rescheduled my surgery for March.

I would like to get my key code, will anyone be there that can do that?

I also have a Vag-Com cable, no laptop, the ex-wife got that.

now that is some tdi dedication ;)

I would also like to program a second key (if I can find one)... Has anyone done that before? I think I've seen a write up concerning that particular procedure..

concerning tools, if you think it may be useful and isn't a pain to lug along, bring it! Between all of us we should have what we need!

dedication, nah....lol.......insurance issues....yes. The insurance companies get rich and decide whether you live or die......I need a pace maker, and if I get it before March I have to pay my deductible of $3000 and since the company is switching insurance companies March 1st, I would have to pay another deductible of $4000, so by scheduling it after March 1st I only have to pay the $4000. Nice huh?

I will most likely be there. I might bring my brother psst97 too.

I can do suspension, gauge stuff, reprogram keys if you have the skc, and door cards just to name the few things i saw in the thread.

I might need help adjusting the actuator on my turbo if anybody has any experience with that.

One tentative project i could do would be 11mm pump swap. I had mentioned to Aaron and Bruce last year about it, but its been sitting on the shelf since last year. Might be too big unless people are game.

I've helped to 2 TB installs, but don't own the TB tools to due to swap.

Just a reminder, no guarantees about whether we will get to the big jobs. We want to make sure we spread the wealth and everyone gets involved that wants to. Thanks!
