Installed a small hitch and am attempting to wire up the lights for a trailer, but can't seem to locate the correct wires to get them all working correctly. Need specifically the color codes for the wires: left & right blinkers, tail, stop, and the ground wire. This is a 1997 Passat Sedan and I am using a U-Haul harness on the left rear light assembly. Any help would be much appreciated. VWWV (Paul) if you read this please call me. Thanks!

Do this: disconnect the bulb harness (the plastic piece in which you put the bulbs) from your rear tail light but leave the wire connector plugged in. Then look at the bulb for which function you are interested in (blink, stop, park, ..) and follow the path of the metal "circuit" on the side where you put the bulb in. They all terminate at the connector. Locate the position to the connector and see which wire is hooked up to that position. The ground is the brown wire on VW's.
