I have the Monster Mats - although they are a bit pricey, they are well worth the money - very heave and made well.

I went to Wal-Mart and got the Truck sized, deep-well floor mats for the front and back. They fit almost like they were made for the car. They cover the whole floor. The best part is the cost. Fronts cost about $12.00 each. Rears cost about $4.00 each. Whee!!!!

Just got the Monster Mats this week from Impex. I'm very impressed with the construction. Yes, they are a bit pricey. But I have a feeling I'll be thanking myself when the snow starts flying.

I use left over carpet from remodeling. Once you have one cut to the right size then you can make several more for spares. Then when the gods of winter leave in the spring, just throw out the mat and replace it with another of your spares. It doesn't look bad especially if the color matches your interior. Just my .02.....:)

This is a little off subject, but, I want to get Monster Mats as well for my 04 Golf. The weird thing is that I don't seem to have the retension posts for my rear mats. The mats have the holes in them but there are no posts on the floor in the rear! Does anyone else have this problem? Or did VW just decide to not put them in the rear for 2004? I smell a visit to the dealer in my future...

I have a 2000 Golf and the little posts for the rear came separately but were included with the car. I think mine are in the rear ashtray at the moment--I never used them. They have the post on top and screw threads on the bottom, as if you're supposed to essentially screw them into the carpet. I think there might be a small slit or something to screw them into.

I bought rubber mats from the dealer when I got my Golf. They have holes in the rear, as I see these Monster Mats do, but they don't actually attach to the posts. Do these Monster Mats actually clip to the posts like the carpet floor mats do?

Yes.

I bought my Monster Mats from Impex, and IIRC, they came with the little screw-in plastic posts for the rear mats.

But, just in case they don't, ask for part number 3D0 898 501. There are several colors available --- black is B41. Should cost a few bucks.

When my car was delivered the retention posts were installed in the front. The posts for the back were in the glove box. They must be dealer installed and they didn't do the rear. Bought the car in March o4 and haven't been back to dealer to install the rear. Will probably get there in the next year or two

Are these available for a 97 Passat (B4)? Also, is there a way of securing them since I do not have posts in my car.

I have a set of Jetta Monster mats for sale in the classifieds section. Brand new in box. The price is right, or so I'd like to think.

The ones at Wal-Mart work just as well, and they are a LOT less $. The only dissadvantage is they don't hook to the posts. To me it's not a big deal, since they are of such good quality that they don't slide any. The total for all 4 at Wal-Mart is about $35.00.

I have monster mats in my TDI and have not had a problem. They really keep the winter junk off the carpeting.

delste, you can get the Monster Mats thru IMPEX. You can find the appropriate P/N thru VW's website.

I'd also like people to take notice of the molder mats...they are the superior winter time interior protectors! My set is 4 years old and still appears brand-new. You'll never have to worry about them buggering up underneath the accelerator peddle.

It's the only VW product that i can offer the highest praise!

No, the molded mats are an entirely different product. They are a heavily contoured (to perfectly fit the footwells) plastic material that is lined with color-coordinated carpeting. They're so nice I leave 'em in year round. In addition, they completely protect the edges of the foot wells.

Glad to see people thinking about winter a little earlier this year!

I'll snap a few pix for you later.
