Windshield cowl part 3B1819415EB41 discontinued?

Looking for this part for my BHW 5.5 2005 Passat TDI.

3B1819415EB41 Windshield cowl. This is a flimsy plastic rain deflector which fits up to the windshield.

ESC shows a good picture of it, but indicates it is now a NLA part.

Wouldn't be surprised it's NLA - custom molded plastic body pieces are usually the first items to stop production when a model gets old enough - last time these cars were produced was 16 years ago... :-(

Well, 11-12 years if you count Skoda Superb and VW-China's Lingyu. But who's counting?

I was too late to buy that one in the ebay listing. I am sure another one will crop up again, used or new.

In the meantime, would it be sufficient to drive without it, if I fashioned a cover for the cabin air filter?

Right now, I have the cabin air filter shielded from rain with aluminum foil.

The -C version appears to have an additional feature added to the center of the back. Having never actually looked at that area of a b5 I don't know what it is for. It may be able to be removed for use on the b5.5. I'm in the same boat now. I ordered one the day before I posted the link above, but my order was cancelled since they were out of stock. I'm also having trouble finding a decent used one.
