As of now, we plan to book for Tuesday evening. Otherwise, it would be Wednesday morning. Still waiting until we get a bit closer to finalize.
It's a tough call. On the evening trip, you should be able to see some amazing night skies, but on the day trip, you get some great views.
I thought about doing Tuesday PM to get some good night sky viewing, but opted for the day crossing on Wednesday since I plan to spend a night in the UP after Fest. That should provide some awesome stargazing. We are all booked as well... but for Tues PM trip.. Hopefully we will have planned the trip to make it in time.. otherwise - I guess you will see us on your crossing..
We are considering driving home the long way via Canada.I thought about doing Tuesday PM to get some good night sky viewing, but opted for the day crossing on Wednesday since I plan to spend a night in the UP after Fest. That should provide some awesome stargazing.![]()

Usually VERY foggy at night FYI. Dangerous foggy. Plenty of Tim Horton's to keep you awake. We are considering driving home the long way via Canada.![]()
Thanks for the insight. It was just something to do. Definitely not for speed or convenience.Cool Pictures MonsterDog - I've watched it come into Manitwoc, but never taken the ride.
We drove through Canada from Detroit to New Hampshire on the way to Maine for TDI Fest back in 13 and I'd never do that again. Horrible traffic, horrible roads, slow speed limits, etc.
On the way back we went the "long" way on the south side of the great lakes and it was roughly the same travel time, but much less stressful.
If you want to do it for the experience and sightseeing in Canada, by all means go for it, but don't do it for any kind of convenience.
