Which VW dealer in Sacramento, CA area?

I live in the Sacramento metro area and need to take my 2005 MkIV Jetta wagon into the dealer for the warranty-related glow plug update. I bought the car used two years ago. I've never had it serviced by a dealer and from the stories I hear, I'm dreading the experience.

So what is the best VW dealer for repair work in the Sacramento area? I'm willing to drive a bit and wait while the work is done in order to get the best service possible. There are about a half-dozen dealers within a 30 minute drive of downtown Sacramento.

I don't know if this place can do the recall but they've been recommended for general service on TDIs. http://www.imlerdiesel.com/

It's been exactly 20 years since I did anything at a Sacto VW dealer; I walked out of Niello when they tried to take advantage of my wife on servicing of our 89 Jetta Carat.

Thanks for the suggestion, but Imler is a no-go. Called them and they don't do factory warranty work.

Anybody else? Or should I just roll the dice...?

Ask Matt-98AHU if he does this work.
He might be at my place in Vacaville in a couple weeks.

Sorry, can't help further. I had bad experience with Niello 20 years ago, but they may have changed. Who is closest to you:

Roseville
Lasher
Niello
Elk Grove
Vacaville

Looks like QuickWrite has some factory warranty work he wants done. For that he will have to find a VW dealer and yes, "roll the dice".
I can not recall the last time a dealer got praise for service on a TDI.

The VW dealer in Chico started out as an independent repair shop with VW authorization to do warranty service on VW and Audi vehicles. When VW awarded them the VW franchise, they removed the Audi authorization thus requiring Northern California Audi owners to drive to Sacramento for service. Since then, however, the owner of Chico VW has been awarded Audi service authorization for up in Redding. So the Chico Audi owner now has a choice: drive to Sacto or Redding.

Thanks for the additional replies. I've started calling around to the different dealers to test them on their knowledge of this issue. So far it's poor. But after giving them my VIN, they seem to universally respond that I need a different service action, 24p9/p5, which is an emissions related ECM update only, and does not include glow plug replacement.

So if that's true, it may mean my car was one of the late 2005 (end of MkIV run) cars that got steel glow plugs from the factory. In that case I may just go to Imler for that and then have somebody like Rocketchip update my ECM so I don't have to use the dealer at all.

That would seem to be the ideal scenario, anyway!

If you don't mind driving about an hour, you could call Chico VW at 530-891-6275 and ask for Willie. Tell him Dennis referred you.
