I'm new to LA and am having trouble locating where to buy oil for my '98 Jetta TDI. Mobil Delvac 1, Shell Rotella T syn, or anything similar. The closer to West LA, the better.
Thanks,
Victor

Should be at Wal-mart, autozone, pep boys, advance auto, etc.VictorTDI said:I'm new to LA and am having trouble locating where to buy oil for my '98 Jetta TDI. Mobil Delvac 1, Shell Rotella T syn, or anything similar. The closer to West LA, the better.

Both NAPA and CarQuest can get the oil you want from their warehouse within one day. When I was still in San Diego, I got three 6-packs of Mobil 5w40 Turbo Diesel Truck from CarQuest, because the local parts store was less than a block from my home. 18 quarts is enough for four oil changes. It wasn't cheap -- around $7.40/quart for the CJ-4 compared to $6.80 or so for CI-4 Plus. But worth it, IMO.VictorTDI said:I'm new to LA and am having trouble locating where to buy oil for my '98 Jetta TDI. Mobil Delvac 1, Shell Rotella T syn, or anything similar. FYI: I think AutoZone is having a $2.00 OFF SALE on Rotella T 5w-40HotRod said:I go to Autozone on Washington Blvd in Culver City. They usually have Rotella in the blue bottle.
Maybe because the OP has a '98 Jetta TDI and does not need the "correct" 505.01 oil?vwrobert51 said:why not just go to the dealers?? some should have the correct 50501 they cant be all that bad (can they?)

you've got a BUNCH of choices, just gotta know what you are looking for.
Do what a lot of us do, newbie. Order the stuff online and have it delivered right to your door! You get the correct oil at a decent price and you don't even have to let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages; not to mention your legs doing the walking through Wally WorldVictorTDI said:I'm new to LA and am having trouble locating where to buy oil for my '98 Jetta TDI. TDTor ESP are fine for the ALH motor as they are CJ-4 oils, for PD's not so.jprine said:I was looking at the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 and passed after reading the back and I didnt see any 505.00 or 505.01 anything. (2003 ALH) I ended up getting some Valvaline Synth Power (full synth) 5w40 (says 505.00, 505.01) on back. Anything wrong with this oil? so the Mobile1 TDT does work in my ALH? or only works in his older TDI?
read the couple of posts above yours. Your FLAPS don't usually carry the 507 oils. Mobil TDT is 505. You gotta go elsewhere for your oil for your 09.mauriTDI said:Thanks. I would prefer not to go to the dealer unless i have to. Good thing is i live near Pasadena where i can get the Mobil 1 that meets the 507 standard. Just two more questions....what does VAG stand for? And if i'm topping off just in case i need to before my first oil change can i mix brands as long as they meet the 507 standard? That's my main concern. thanks!
The Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30 is NOT going to be found with other Mobil 1 products at any of the usual auto parts outlets. Special order only.mauriTDI said:Thanks.
