Saw that done to a fox body mustang once... It was rusty as hell, like many foxes, and the guy still wanted 3000 just for the modified shell! Because it was "unique".

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Redneck engineering...
There was a time when an incredible amount of farm machinery was custom fabricated or at least modified from something else (lots of Ford Model-T tractors). There used to be large populations of blue-collar workers that had metalworking as a prevalent part of their farming lives. Backyard fabrication was natural to them, but daunting today to most people.

When the civil unrest and the collapse of the United States arrives it will be Rednecks vs. Inner-City Gangs. The gangs will just pillage, rape, and steal. The rednecks will survive with hunting, farming, and animal husbandry. It doesn't hurt to be at least a little rednecks with some country skills. In the future, when you have to abandon urban cities, you can at least attempt to align yourself with country folks and make yourself useful.

Couldn't get a picture of it, but saw a Toyota one ton (old Uhaul maybe?) with a Ford Econoline extended van mated to it.

Great analogy, Mr. Mopar. Love it..

A rattle can paint job will take a lot of the difficulty out of that photo on top. But then again, some people want to make things obvious.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I haven't lived on a farm for a while. But the skills are like riding a bike. McGyver was named after me. ;)

Curious if the 'bed' is actually decently supported? Or will it just fall off once you fill it up with junk? :p

My fiance once gave a conference speak on this same subject. She ended by quoting Hank Williams Jr. " A shotgun, a rifle and a 4 wheel drive, a country boy will survive."

Of course the audence laughed, but it's true. I live on a farm, and one that has not ever lived on a farm will be amazed by the number of items repaired in very innovative ways. Simply because you can't stop and drive 30 miles to the hardware store, you got to look around and see what will work.

No, but when you aren't a redneck farmer, everyone gives you grief when you "creatively" adapt to situations.
