My 13 Jetta has 133,000 miles. Runs great fires right up in the cold as well. Should I do glow plugs or do you wait till they exhibit some sort of failure or weakness? What do you guys think?

Glow plugs don't have a service schedule. Replace each one that fails when it fails.

There are just too many to list....
They can, yes, but the CJAA's plugs are pretty buried in there and reasonably well protected from the elements.

Your ECU monitors them, if they have an issue, it'll set a DTC. They have integral pressure sensors, too, which is another reason they are being monitored constantly.

I wouldn't worry about the glow plugs until they start failing, but your car is due for a timing belt job if that hasn't already been done.
