When did you scrap your Hankooks?

I installed winter tires a last week. The Hankooks have around 22,000 miles on them. They look OK but not much tread left for a tire that has 50% wear. I'll keep the Hankooks around until I decide what to get for summer tires in the spring.

:)

TDI_SC: I trust you're checking both inner and outer sidewalls. I wouldn't trust the Hankooks as long as you have, but that's just me.

Sidewalls look fine. Are you referring to the shoulders? Other than a bit of uneven wear they've held up just fine. I think I can probably make those last 'til 60k.

There have been several reports of sidewall/shoulder cracking, although I haven't heard of any recently. Maybe early production tires?
I'm all for longevity, so go for it.

I'm at 49,500 miles and going. I will probably keep the Hankook's 'til they're, uhmn, well, cooked. :D
The wear was uneven but I attribute that to a lousy service department that gave me "free maintenance until 30,000 miles" and lied about rotating the tires. The rear tires' shoulders are pretty thin bu the front tires are fine.
They are noisy, I don't like them, but they're a good bit less noisy than the Pirelli P6's on my 2010 Wagon (non_TDI).

I just had my 60k service and I'm still on the Factory Hancocks... Lol, new tires for Christmas though.

Still on original Hancooks, about 33k so far and still plenty of tread left.

Guess I don't know much about tires, because I've never thought these to be noisy. Worst thing I could say about them is they're iffy on water, not the best at avoiding a hydroplane. But again, I can't claim to have experience with a wide variety of tires, so o don't really know how much worse than average they are under those conditions.

The only way to answer your own questions is to see how the car handles and sounds when you get around to putting new tires on. I noticed a quitter ride when I get rid of the hankooks on the JSW for bridgestone ecopias. My wife's car was the opposite. We replaced her oem contis with Michelin MX3 (IIRC) and they are noisier. Grip better and seem to run better in the rain, but still noisier.
