Does anyone know the specs of the stock wheels on the MK6 and are they the same as the MK5? I am looking at changing the wheels, I currently have the 16" which come on the comfortline and am looking to replace with the following:

17" Anthracite Goal wheels.
Goal 5–spoke Light Alloy Wheel 7J x 17 ET54
1T4-071-497-V7U

All the sites I found these on mention they fit the 2010 but nothing about the 2011.

Goals should work fine. If you look in the 2011 Jetta brochure, there is a picture of a black Jetta S with Goal wheels.

Those are some nice looking wheels, how do you think the ride of the car will change from the stock 16"? A little stiffer?

My car is black and I wanted some dark wheels, bang for the buck I think they should do the trick.
My guess is that the ride should be similar to those that have a highline since the highline comes with 17's. I'm not sure what tires come with the highline but i'm leaning towards the Conti's.

It'll look a lot like this pic my brother took for me!

225/40 R17 - ContiProcontact GT

I notice some manhole covers a little bit more then running the 205/55 R16. There is quite a bit more gripe on the initial turn in that's for sure. Haven't pushed these too much yet but over all very happy with the upgrade.

I think we just turned 3500km (2100miles) and loving every minute. I find myself looking back at the car every time I'm walking away2

Crashtested - they look good on your car, hope mine look as nice.
Mine were delivered today, gonna take a quick trip across the border to pick them up. Would have liked to support the Canadian economy but $240 vs $160 per rim is a big difference.

Crashtested - I've been thinking about those wheels for weeks. Really need to pull the trigger. What tires you get? Thinking about Michelin Primacy. My wife keeps catching me looking at pix of similar cars with those wheels. Not fun when wife makes fun of my obsessions.

ContiProContact GT's - it was a package deal and I'm pretty happy with them so far.

I have no idea how to post pics directly in the post but here are the links.

The car is a bit dirty but honestly these pics don't do these wheels any justice, they really look good.

Nice. I gotta get me some of those! I'm ordering tomorrow. Post by grabbing the text code under pix and paste like URL

I ordered the wheels from Emich VW in Colorado, he had an add on ebay and he posts them fairly frequently. He was the cheapest and would probably give the same price if you just call and order directly from him instead of going through ebay.
After doing a lot of research on tires I went with the Hankook V12's, got them from Discountire (on ebay as well). All in all very i'm happy with the setup.

How much did you pay including shipping Marc?

The wheels shipped to a US address cost me $740 (Can) in total, the tires I got from Discount tire with free shipping cost me $430 plus I get a $60 mail-in rebate (I just need to pass myself off as a US citizen). If you plan on having them shipped to Canada you may as well buy them from a local dealer in Canada, it'll come out to around the same. For me I live 30 minutes from the border so it's worth buying from the US and having them shipped to a warehouse on the other side.

I paid $1600 shipped for wheels & tires in February.

I too live 5 min off the line with a Nexus card so it's never far to go to grab parts.

Hey guys I am a newbie here.... I did not want to make a new thread about this because it is about the wheels of the car...

I just bought my first TDi last week....
[/IMG]

I personally think that the 16s on this car is too small. After doing some research on this site, I've learned (I hope this is true) that I will get better gas mileage if put 17s on this car. Here is a question hopefully someone could answer.. does the 17s have to be weigh less than the stock 16s? What is the bolt pattern of these wheels?

Also I have found a site that sell replica rims of VW... I am particularly interested in this one.... http://www.finishlinewheels.com/specials/15,VW+CARS/586,VW+Passat+Sport+334+Wheels+17x7%C55/

I personally think that it will look really nice on the car. Is there anything that I need to watch our for especially with replicas.... I personally want a VW stock looking rims... or am I better off just getting rims from VW?

Thanks for your help

Go for bigger wheels for looks, but do not expect better mileage. If all other things are equal (like same make/type tires) larger wheels will usually net lower mileage because the treads are generally wider. Also bigger wheels will give you a slightly rougher ride (although the difference between 16" & 17" will be small) and more expensive tires (lower aspect ratio tires are generally more expensive). As for weight - it really depends on the individual wheels chosen. Often larger wheels are heavier, but there are exceptions to this rule. You really have to consider the wheel/tire combination's weight.

Bolt pattern on all MK5 and MK6 Jettas and Golfs is 5x112

Have Fun!

Since i've put on the 17's about a week ago I actually got 50km's less on that tank, not sure it's related to the wheels or my more spirited driving lately.
As for the reason going with vw wheels, well they were cheap and if you ever have a problem with one you can always order another, can't say the same for the aftermarkets. Plus I really liked the look of them.

The larger wheels have a larger diameter, therefore the odometer will be less.

So I decided to go on ebay and I found brand new (well technically used because the wheels were used for 10 miles) 17 Pheonix... the same wheels that are normally found on the base CC... I have checked online and I know that I need to put 225/45 tires on the car. So I am excited of getting those wheels... the dealership were charging a bit too much for wheels in my opinion.. cant wait for them to come in..
