I've got a potential chaffed wire problem Im tracking down causing a G40 camshaft sensor No Signal code. Im wondering what people use to fix chaffed wires. I've read not to solder wires which im terrible with anyway. Are there some sort of crimp connectors. Also read about butt crimps or something similar. I'm guessing to use some sort of crimp connector and a heat shrink wrap to seal it off. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

2 pitfalls to soldering, heat can damage attached components, solder connections are rigid and can break from movement.
That being said I solder most wire repair, especially the small ones.
The issue I see with crimps is equipment, the crimp tools we buy are generally not up to the job. Good connectors must be sought after, good crimp tool is expensive.

One option that can be used is a solder splice heat shrink tube.

The whole thing goes together with a heat gun.
Strip the wires until you have ~3/8" of exposed clean wire, insert them into the tube until they overlap under the center ring of solder.
Apply heat, starting at the center and working outward once it starts to melt.

VW repair wires are available either from the dealer or one of our on-line vendors.
