What is this noise from?

Hello,

2015 Passat TDI SEL DSG ~62K miles

changed the ac idler pulley last weekend thinking it caused this noise, apparently did not make any difference.

is it the alternator pulley? I can change this without a problem, have the tools.
is it the water pump? will let someone more mechanically inclined to do this, or is this a warranty item also.
is it the HPFP? ....warranty?

there are no codes, scanned with VCDS.

Sounds just like my daughters 2015 Passat tdi. Water pump and needs a full timing belt job while you are at it more than likely. Got the dealer/VWoA to do a Goodwill replacement for it (Did cost $580) the first time and then had to take it back for the full timing belt job. Running fine now and no squeak. If you get the work done you may want to consider a new WP without the shroud this time. That is what is causing the issue it seems from reading here. IDParts and others have them. Kind of a known issue now as there have been several writeups here about them.

Easy way to figure it out. Pull your accessory belt and start it. If it still does it. It's timing belt, water pump and idlers time.

What was the resolution of this repair? Pulley, Alternator, something else? What did it cost, Parts Labor?
