I should have taken a pic of it.... but maybe someone will know what I'm talking about?
I was checking out the inside of my car to day and at the very front of the roof liner (just behind where the rearview mirror ends) there is this little flap thing that will fold down. What is this? There is a small hole in the front of it, like it could be a camera looking out the windshield (no I don't think that it's a camera... just that it looks like it).
Anyone have this? What is it?

Also I asked my dealer about getting me one of those NB sunglass holder things that replace the oh-**** handle by the drivers seat. They told me that it won't fit in my Jetta (99 MK4). I took a look at a NB sunglass thing today, and have to say that it really looks like it could fit with no problem. Is the dealership full of it, or will it really not fit?

LOL

I used to wonder the same thing. It's a filler piece that is designed to block the sun between your driver's and passenger's sun shade!!

Next time the sun hits the gap between them, just above the rear-view mirror, flip it down and see if it doesn't do the trick.

He,He! Soon as I saw the topic, I figured that it was about that little visor. I don't know how many times the salesman carried on about that "wonderful little visor" when we bought our car. So much that my husband teases me about it occasionally, "Now don't forget about using this little visor!"
It does come in handy sometimes for helping to hold up the windshield shade that I find I use alot with a black car!

Thanks for letting me know.
I had a very brief thought that it was a shade, but I quickly figured it was way to small to be used for that.

I also thought I had read in the manual about an auto darkening rear view mirror. I was thinking that the flap was some sort of an "eye" that would detect headlight glare and adjust my mirror somehow

I'm sure I'll find more "things" hidden in the car soon. I'll be sure to ask about them here.

Snowball,

So you will be driving that tdi of yours to VT tommorow?

I am surprised the salesman didn't make a big deal about the flap. It must be in a training video as they made a special point to show it to me...that and the hook on the rear truck floor latch that holds the floor up to access the spare.
