For future reference, you don't need a special tool to remove it from a junker. I pulled one using channellocks to counterhold the hub (nut came off way easier than expected), and used a couple longer bolts to thread through the hub to pop that off, in lieu of a puller tool.
Well, another one is supposedly at the junkyard, so I'll take my counterhold just to be safe today, and I think that car in CA was junked, anyways.

just took this damned thing out as it leaked like there's no tomorrow right after 5k miles. o-ring on that didn't last. that was a expensive lesson learned using VW DSG fluids. ($237 for 5 bottles) and costing me 2 days worth of work. went back to the original one with new O-ring I saved.

Within the past week: new tires (Continental Pro Contact Sport SRS+ very quiet!), and a new dual mass flywheel. Stock was was making noise. Pilot bearing was also toast. Car has 234,500 miles.
Did you replace yourself, or where did you take it and how much $$? Mine is starting to rattle occasionally at idle most noticeably. CVS Carmichael quoted me $2755 !!

I did not do that myself. Kombi Haus in Sacramento (Oak Park) did a great job for $1800 parts and labor. Other shop in town quoted me about $2700 as well. Highly recommend Kombi Haus. I'm going to have them do my timing belt very soon. They quoted me $1500 for that. Seems to be the going rate here in CA at Indy shops.

Changed the oil and filter, changed the trans fluid and filter, installed the p2015 gizmo, new air filter and cabin filter and put the summer tires back on.

Been looking forward to some car maintenance time for weeks.

Had a slight hurdle as my new laptop didn't wanna download the VCDS newest version properly. Had to manually check the install drivers box. Expected that to upload automatically.

Feels good, so smooth.

Finally got the darkside stage 1 CP3 on my sportwagen along with a new timing belt and serp/timing belt guard (at 125k miles).

Now I just need to send data logs to malone for a retune, change the coolant and brake fluid, and mount the new tires

80k tune up plus some suspension work - oil change, engine air filter, fuel filter and cabin air filter. Ive also been having some front suspension noises. Replaced the passenger side upper strut mount last week with the ID parts Sport Upper Strut mounts. I also had a failing CV joint on the driver side which I tried repairing last week but was toasted so I ended up going with a new axle from Raxle. Put the new axle in as well as the Upper strut mount on the driver side along with new ball joint, outer tie rod joint and sway bar link. I still have one clunk on the passenger side when I first go into reverse that wasnt there until after I changed out the upper strut mount on that side, so I still have to chase that down at some point. Car feels a lot better with the new axle and joints. Want to refresh the passenger side with new ball joint, outer tie rod and sway bar link as well soon.

Going to do some exterior work today, clay, compound and dr color chip.

Edit: was really impressed with Dr color chip. Great for road raah and chips. Didn't do great on larger gashes but definitely an improvement.

Popped in an RCD330 head unit into my 2014 JSW. Its the NoName brand bought from rcd330.com. I was a little sketched out buying from an unfamiliar chinese website, but the person running it was super helpful with my million questions, and it arrived rather quickly and is really really nice. Kind of pricey at around $450 shipped with new backup camera. (OEM backup camera isn't compatible as the signal format is different) Haven't installed the backup camera yet as I am dreading the cable run. One thing I have noticed is that the response on the touchscreen is super quick. Faster than our 2019 Alltrack's unit, and faster than the aftermarket Sony that I have in my MK4 wagon. Chose the model with the rear USB which comes with a nice little USB port that pops into right most unused spots just in front of the shifter. Steering wheel controls still work. Info about phone and radio station is no longer in the MFI. Disconnected factory bluetooth that is underneath the armrest. Microphone that is now on the unit works great.

Edited to add more info.

very close to mine, will take pics of mine tomorrow. I got it from PeterDNA as "OEMKing" on Instagram. back up camera came from 2017+ VW's and wow.... day and night of differences from my original 2014 Camera and RCD330 to the RNS-510.

Did my 240k mile service. Everything looked great. DSG fluid looked unused after 40k miles. Fuel filter housing had no sign of metal flakes. Keep on rolling. Next up I need to get the car in for a timing belt and control arm refresh.

What did I do to my mk6 today? Actually, what did I do to my girlfriend's mk6... I found her a 2011 JSW on facebook marketplace. It's going to need a new DPF (or ideally, a Rawtek replacement), timing belt and other good stuff, so the seller was more than willing to negotiate down to $3000. It made for a long drive home (about 112 miles) doing 45-55 on 100% rural roads, but it's back home safe and sound. One step closer to being a 100% diesel family. :)

oh! that was you! saw your post on Facebook. LOL good catch! I'm currently looking for a JSW preferably in the southeast myself as my backup JSW or personal car as my current JSW is my work car. its not exactly nice inside.......... hence why I am looking.

I saw someone else's post on the fb group saying they got one for $3K. Figured I'd look and sure enough, one for $3999, but sold for $3K. Best part? Same color as my girlfriend's Nissan Rogue.

What did I do today... changed the fuel filter, cabin and air filter, put in a more recent bluetooth module, discovered my spare PolarFIS doesn't work with my gf's ECU, put in the RNS-510 from my 2010 JSW (that was in mom's unused 2014 Beetle), and as soon as I cool down, try and do an oil change. It seriously feels like Florida outside with the 90%+ humidity at over 80 degrees.

130K service on my son's JSW while he's away for the weekend.

Engine oil and filter, and I changed the gear oil. Shifting immediately got smoother. Tire rotation, too, along with new hatch struts.

Earlier in the week it got tuned (all emissions remain in place), and my guru did a coolant flush. He thinks this helps with keeping the heater core from clogging. That, along with the less aggressive regen profile in the tune will, I hope, prolong emissions component life.

Well it's not my car but I am working on somebody else's. 2011 Jetta with a bad motor. Got a 2011 Jetta sport wagon that the title cannot be gotten for. So I am transferring the engine from the sport wagon into the sedan. I will have tons of body parts for a sport wagon, which includes a full fuel system that is still good. Ct4, injectors, fuel rail. What is a good price to list those items for?

Wow... this thread is NOT as active as the mk4 equivalent, sadly.

What I did - started the girlfriend's timing belt at 3am when it was under 80 degrees (barely). Drained the oil and realized I have a literal s#itload of mk4 oil filters, but NO mk6 oil filters, so I had to make a quick trip to Carquest and back (30 miles round trip). Hardest part, or parts? Getting the water pump (had the original pump, and pretty much everything else original, except the belt. I both was and wasn't shocked to see the original idlers, tensioner and roller. I'm pretty sure the belt has been changed, because whomever timed it before, did a sh!tty job. Of course, it could've been slack with time, but given how far off the tensioner was, I think someone was in there that didn't know what they were doing.

I partially followed the directions on here as a refresher (first time I did the TB was when I had it removed to swap my CP3 between the car I was selling and the JSW I have now). The instructions didn't say to remove the clutch sprocket, but I did that anyways, mk4-style, and that helped make my install a lot smoother. Car runs and drives again, but sounds like crap because I still need to replace the DSG flywheel (another middle of the night job), along with a brake fluid flush, and for the sake of being a perfectionist... the PO said they changed brake pads. Front looks good, rear is mostly okay, the rotors aren't horrible, but I'm thinking of changing them. I'm a big fan of Zimmerman rotors and Akebono pads. Then I still gotta change out the stock shocks/struts with Bilstein B4 (she doesn't want the sporty ride my cars have, but wants an OEM feel).

Sadly, they don't sell as high as on a mk4. I recently just sold a junkyard pulled fuel rail that I've been sitting on for months and months for under $100. Injectors seem to go for about $150-200 for the set, used. HPFP, about $150-200.

Now if you have the fuel filter bottom canister, that's something I'd be interested in. Some yahoo well before me stripped one of the bolt holes. It doesn't leak, but in the sake of getting things right, it's on my list of things I want to eventually correct. Shoot me a PM if you want to sell that. As for price - I don't know what those would go for.

I replaced the AC Compressor and finally! she blows icy cold! she never blew that cold since I bought her in 2018. I had enough with those idiots who kept saying AC is cold and sees nothing is wrong with it (those yahoos tested her AC in the damned GARAGE not on the road to get real life results) which angered me for wasting money.

old compressor felt little hard to turn compared to the new one, enough said.

result:

also installed Kerma TDI boost hoses and wow! no more boost leaks. the clip was little weak on the drivers side, it popped off.

so I used my old serp belt and cut 1/4 of it and wrapped the clip with worm clamp,

my idea of it:

result:

so far, 4 days and it held on!

Used a small diagonal cutter (dikes) to clip off the ears on my fuel door locking pin. I was locked out and unable to fuel again. Door still latches and releases with a push but no longer locks.

No really worried about fuel theft in Beaverdam.

What I did today - replaced the s#itty stock rear shocks on the gf's 2011 JSW with Bilstein TC's. I might tackle the front struts tomorrow. The car now sits a bit higher in the rear. :) She doesn't want a lowered car like all of mine.

LOL give it a week or two, she will settle. I have Bilstein TC on the 2015 Passat, same result. now she sits perfect.

Changed front and rear brakes and pads with Fremax rotors from idparts and the usual Akebono pads. Also flushed and bled the hydraulics and braking feels pretty solid now. Just need to do the front struts, DSG flywheel, and dieselgeek skidplate, and she's off to the stealership for a new DPF before warranty runs out in ~5K.

May I ask how come you went with Fremax instead of Zimmerman?

Yeah, cheaper, and I've had good luck before with Fremax. I actually use both brands on my cars. Now what I won't buy, are Eurospec rotors. Don't ask me how many I've got that were untrued. Ray Charles could probably do better with a lathe!

Here's a fun one for all the oil heads out there.
Had the timing belt changed recently at a shop down in Colo Springs (think Pikes Peak) specializing in euro HP gassers. I asked them to change the fuel filter as they were gonna have to move it anyway and there was a misunderstanding. They also changed out the VW 0W30 I had just put in it with less than 100 miles on the clock. Don't worry they didn't charge me when I brought it up, but the oil they did put in is Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 which is 502-505. Planning on another 7k until I change out the oil, not really concerned about the 5w40, more the 502-505 and not 507? Or maybe they just got my JSW TDI confused with an 812 superfast which does take this oil, mistakes happen!

If your emissions are intact I'd swap that oil out. It does meet VW 505 standards, but it doesn't appear to be low ash and leaving it in there for 7500 miles may shorten the life of your DPF and CAT.

I could use a driver's seat for my 235k jsw, if yours is in good shape, and maybe some body panels. What color is the interior/exterior on your parts car?
