The day will come when I have a dead engine sitting in my garage that does not look to my soul like a collection of parts, one of which will be needed and a minimum of a week away at some point in the next month.

Today was not that day.

Sorting out the intake piping, don't know where to install the map sensor. An adapter welded onto the aluminium piping next to the steering reservoir would be ideal I guess..
Any idea is welcomed.

That’s deep. I might take a rainy day and reread that as I stare at the three in my garage

Somewhere down stream of the intercooler and away from heat soak would be my choice. Is that charge piping aluminum? Where’d you get it?

Installed a new touchscreen stereo and 4 brand new speakers. Sounds amazing and it was a fairly easy install. Only had to dremel a little bit of the dash to get the dash kit to fit

Yes, it's aluminium. https://races-shop.com/
This is the site.
I measured and eyeballed every pipe and bend and made a "working" piping system in my mind.
Spent probably close to 200$ equivalent for piping, silicone couplings/reductions/bends, clamps and the brm intake race pipe.
The intercooler has 51mm exits, the rest of the system is 57mm, from turbo out.

What speakers did you install?

Yesterday I installed the short throw shifter I made using wingnuts thread and a YouTube video. I added the link and some pictures on that thread. Works great I am happy with how it turned out. Now to change my oil and replace my blower motor today

No intercooler? Is the intake piping going straight to the turbo outlet?

Not my 01 beetle TDI, but the girlfriend's 07 2.5. drove it to my parents, battery light was flashing for about a minute then it went away. On way back it flashed a bit, then stayed in. Checked with meter, not charging. Why was it flashing?

Probably the slip rings on the alternator worn. The 2.5 has the reverse rotation alternator, which is kinda odd.
Make sure the fuse block on the top of the battery isn't melted though.

Got under my car to do my oil change and it appears my inner timing cover is damaged in two spots. Not sure how long it’s been like this. Pictures included. First is at the very bottom of the cover and the last is looking more towards the top. I don’t have the time, tools, know how or funds to take off all the pulleys and the belt to replace it. I have a metal skid plate. How bad is it to run it like this?

I'd say you could drive it and be fine until the next timing belt change.

I welded an adapter on the back side of the "race pipe" - Logic was that the closer to the engine it is, the better. It's generally out of the way, can't see it, didn't have to cut/extend the wires, yet still easy to service if necessary.

The subs I got wired in but they don’t wanna turn on for some reason, power is run and in the amp and the audio cable is ran too. All 4 speakers looked like that one. So far everything is good
Check power and ground then make sure the wire to command the amp on rings to the amp. Did you “burnish” the wire where the amp grounds?

it would have been more ideal to use a gearbox facing pd150 intake manifold and run a shorter pipe up and over the trans. that's how i like to do fmic on the mk4. shorter piping. also probably less heat soak than having a pipe right behind radiator :)

It's a brm intake and idk if those come facing the gearbox.
Still, this setup should do very good above the stock on. Watercooling for the turbo should also help with iat a bit, no?
we'll see after she runs and some logs..

Managed to fabricate brackets for the intercooler, fitted the stock front bumper after a lot of trimming, it ain't the prettiest but it works.
Could not get the intercooler to sit higher because the driver side exit sits too high, hitting the front crash bar.

Unfortunately I just had one done. Update. I’ll just buy some good gorilla tape give it a good clean and cover it in tape and keep on rocking it.
I was going to recommend the same thing. My only change would be to use Flex seal tape if you can get that up there. Gorilla tape doesn't do very well with heat. It peals off easily soon as its wet or hot. I put some on my headlight to fender area 2 weeks ago to hold my headlight in and it already fell off. Flex seal is very very sticky, and clings to itself and other surfaces very well. I use it a lot on atv and snowmobile seats with tears. I even used it on a outlet cover for a couple days and it was almost impossible to peal off. Otherwise possibly aluminum foil tape would work if you already have that on hand.

Woke up today and the bug was leaking water onto the drivers side floor board from the dash. Blew the crud out of the windage tray and I am hoping that works until it stops raining so I can clean in there. There's always a first for everything with these cars lol.

Does anyone make a front mount intercooler that has both pipes exit on one side? Alternative - is there an intake that bolts up (without massive mods) to face the left side of the car? Is that the PD150 I keep hearing about?
