Curious how you like the solid bracket bushings.
Love them. I had a concern initially that they would transmit a bunch of vibrations into the cockpit. However, I have not been able to detect any increase in sound or vibes inside the car. Even when resting my hand on the lever I don't feel any new vibration.

I think that if you used them by themselves that there wouldn't be much of a noticeable change. Coupled with the short shifter and delrin bushings it makes a perceivable difference. I installed the short shifter a couple of weeks before these bushings went in. While the feel of shifting was greatly improved I was still perceiving a slight chunkiness. It's difficult to describe, but it felt like there was still something amiss with the linkage. The solid bushings removed that feeling.

Anyway, to answer your question, I love them and wish I'd done both of these mods years ago.

I've had the diesel geek short shifter for a while now. Good to hear about the solid bushings. I'll have to pick a set up at some point. Thanks!

Continuing the 26psi Pierburg lift fuel pump saga. Found two on RockAuto one is Delphi specs theirs at 26 PSI, and then I did find another one spec at 56 PSI. All for 05 TDI. So kind of makes me wonder was there maybe supposed to be different pressure readings? Or is a late 05 a different engine again?

I'm not trusting my old fuel lines to stand up to 26 PSI so I'm looking for a cheap adjustable fuel pressure regulator I can put before the fuel pump to the return line, to limit fuel filter to 10. Although at the cost of the cheaper lift pump assemblies I might just go buy a third one and keep hoping. You guys have no idea how much I hate cheap parts, everything in this car is either always or better.

On topic of fuel, anybody have part number for the pre thermostat filter assembly? I had my poor local Napa guy order everything you could get every single one had a thermostat valve. Or can I just go and get a gas engine fuel filter?

Any way this replacement pump is compatible with your housing?

That’s awesome! It’s $1.60L cad here which is not great that comes out to 4.48 US a gal if my math is correct.
Currently in SoCal on a little holiday; station nearest the hotel is $4.99/gal for Diesel; RUG is $4.69. So yeah - anything under $4/gal in the US seems like a great deal.

Late 2005 Jetta (2005.5) is the BRM.
If you're in a BEW, better to look at the 2005 Golf for mechanical parts to avoid potential BRM/BEW mixups.

Diesel is about $3.19 around here. Wyoming.

It’s cold out so I have to remember to release the emergency brake level and make sure it’s all the way down, otherwise the abs light chimes and flashes at me.

And it’s cold out so I got the flashing glow plug light but thankfully that went away on its own.

Savannah doesn’t like the cold and I don’t blame her. Neither do I.

That pump is supposed to put out 7.5 psi.
Both new pumps put out 26. Vendor says I must be doing something wrong if both put out that much, no way 2 could be bad. I don't think they understand about a bad batch, especially since now they're from china instead of Germany. That's the kicker, $400 Canadian for Chinese made POS, I don't care if it is made to German standards, it is still Chinese.

Swapped out my OEM clutch line yesterday on DSOL with a braided stainless line from USP Motorsports. So far, it feels good, though the o-rings are at different positions on the line - one in the grove nearest the top, and another on the grove below it. The line that came off the car only has one position. The part of the line that goes to the clutch master is snug, but not as much as I'd like, but doesn't appear to be leaking. The slave side is pretty solid in its connection. Did a test drive and it feels good. Didn't increase my pedal travel as I'd hoped, but it still feels pretty good. Having been stranded before because of a leaky line, hopefully this works good. One of our TDI trusted vendors has the OEM line for $200 (NLA otherwise for VW), but I opted for the cheaper line, because, well, it's braided stainless, and I'm doing two cars ($67 each with shipping).

The car seems to shift just fine, so hopefully that fixes my issue I had in the past. Still waiting for one to arrive for DSEL.

I just double checked what I ordered for my jetta. Showed up as a delphi unit. No idea where it was made, but it's within pressure spec as advertised.

Doesn't help when someone screws up and puts wrong info in the system. We get that all the time between AllData and ElsaPro. Aftermarket warranty companies quote off AllData and we have had full out arguments because a 5 hour job would only pay 45 minutes because somebody didn't put the correct labour times in.

Possible someone put the wrong part number or spec in the system so it recommends the wrong pump for '05 TDI.

I banged the sending unit around a bit, I was gonna cut the regulator spring short, put it back to test it and down to 7.5 psi. Either I broke the gauge from being over pressured, or something in the unit cleared up. Strange. Still not the strangest vehicle related thing I've seen. Gonna button it up and check in a few days maybe there is something stuck in the regulator? I read tons of fuel lift pump post and all sorts of forms, and I've heard of this from one other person, they had to physically push for the pressure relief to undtuck itself and start working properly because they do have high pressure. Wish I could find the link

I went outside and looked at it again. This time I opened the doors and started it. Moisture still filled the cabin. Noticed I let it sit a little to long due to neck surgery. Mold. I whispered softly to her again "your time has come". Once I've recovered from surgery I plan on pulling the engine, selling off whatever and junking it.

It is not her fault. Put a cup of vinegar in it, with a long piece of paper towel from cup to up higher, I used a string to tie to steering wheel. This way the paper acts like a wick, and it will fill the interior with vinegar most. Let it sit. Did that to mine last year, for a month or two while I was awaiting time and parts, then I wiped down everything with vinegar. So far it seems to be okay
