I got a tune update too, just haven't had time to put it in yet.... hunting season opened yesterday. Cars going to be sitting for a bit, just doesn't quite have the ground clearance for running around the mountains.

I just installed the third hose to replace the last injector plug. The last hose I got literally melted away. This one is Gates 27000 at least on their spec it says diesel rated. While checking for leaks I turned on the AC to blow the warm rad towards the engine and dry up the diesel, my compressor doesn't start and neither do my fans so that's going to be fun

Technically not a MKIV, but I got to play with this over the weekend. It’s a Pistenbully Canyon with a 1.9 AVM, but everything looks interchangeable with an ALH. I’m trying to chase down a start and die issue, which seems like it’s linked to the immobilizer(it has corrosion on the circuit board and a couple of burnt capacitors.

Took up the BF sale at IDP for a bit o' kit to do the timing belt on my '02 2dr. I have a sneaking suspicion that I am not going to get a 50 degree weekend in January to do it comfortably this year...LOL

2001 golf tdi 4 door auto now a manual, mine, 2000 golf 2 door M/T son's,daughters 98 NB non-TDI 2.0, 2003 TDI NB for next daughter, head repaired and on road, glutton for punishment got another tdi 2001NB,another yellow tdi NB , added an 06 NB DSG
I too did the BF sale at Idparts, loaded up on parts , got a new cam kit for the 06 NB that’s in the driveway, was hoping to get the replacement auto transmission installed before any big storms, fingers crossed.

Two nights ago heater core in DD let go while bring groceries to my dad who had a knee replacement….. fun driving at night with oncoming lights with fogged Windows at nighttime, kicker was I started to smell coolant with heat in so ordered a new heater core on the BF sale hoping I could limp it till spring…… no such luck. Luckily I have a spare car .
Just waiting for parts now…….

I too will need to do this in the driveway 😑😑😑

No way, I am a long time pistenbully driver, this is so cool! I have never driven a canyon though, and I have certainly never seen that in there. My ALH golf maybe does deserve its 2 pistenbully stickers then! The ones I drive generally have a cummins. I have driven 20̷0̷s, 40̷0̷s, and 60̷0̷s. I love driving my alh up to work, driving diesel cats all night - burning 2xx litres - , and then drive my alh home using almost nothing. A night at work uses enough fuel to take me around 5,0̷0̷0̷km. These days I drive prinoth now, Italian engineering vs German, they do not hold up to the same standard. I feel lukewarm about them.

Tried adjusting my headlights. TYC brand from rock auto. Probably broke all adjustments, the left points too left and have high, the right points too low and to the right, I have this cone of darkness ahead of me. I may have to get some plastic weld and crack open the housings

Certainly a possibility. I've found most aftermarket lights, in addition to being crap plastic, just don't aim well. Had to shim up the mount points in myriad ways to get the ones I did buy pointed somewhat reasonably. Then I just put the OE ones back in while I ripped apart the garbage ones and put HID projectors in them.
That's the best use of aftermarket lights in my experience.

oh wow!! that is cool!!!! haha, would sure be neat to mess around with that. i'd love to see what the factory tune for that looks like. @BrettLu should get an mpps v18 and read it in! :)
What cable and software do I need? I'm going to look at it more this weekend to try to figure out why I can't communicate with it...it has an obd-ii and the Pistenbully service manual refers to Ross-Tech. I plan on deleting the immo, but the owner picked up a new immo module since we know it's bad.

Sounds like a good fix. How did you make the adjusters work and what projectors did you use?

According to his sig, Nuje doesn't have a Beetle. Those of us who do (or did) don't have any good options, and TYC seems to be the best of the sad lot.
Well that's just disappointing.

Anyone in SW Ontario have a crappy headlight from a beetle I can cut up and see? I threw the old ones out as soon as the new ones showed up, I didn't realise I needed them

What I did yesterday - put on a newly repainted fender finally on DSEL after having crap fly off a truck a couple of months back. It also destroyed my e-code headlight with leveler, since replaced.

Elsa was also watching me work at my friend's body shop (she just turned 9 on November 30th).

I hit a small yearling whitetail buck in DSOL. Only minor bumper/lower valence damage (and the buckling had a totally broken rear right leg, but he otherwise survived and limped his way to private property), so I get to go back with that car in a couple of weeks when that work gets completed.

On a side note - I got 44.2mpg with @burpod's tune, hand calculated, AC off, even with our 6-7% grades out here. I don't know why the hell anyone would waste money on a sh!tty Malone or Kerma tune anymore on a mk4...

I have two crappy headlights on a 2002 Beetle, that's eventually getting scrapped, after I pull some useful parts off of it.

Tried to fill up this morning at a new-to-me station by my new school (work). It's an unmanned shop with pay at the pump.

Selected diesel, and went to pump. Barely a trickle flowed into the tank. Like $0.14 worth. Hmmm. Squeezed the trigger again, and still almost zero flow. Someone else pulled in and started pumping gasoline fine. Tried a third time, and it started flowing slightly better, like 1/100th of a gallon per second. Put a grand total of 1.5 gallons in after 5 minutes and gave up. Now my FE calculation will be all screwed up, and I've been worried about it because it's dropped these past 1,200 miles or so. I only had 525 miles on the last tank from full (still have the vent) to a smidge over 1/8 tank left.

In situations like this, I drive to the nearest station that has properly working pumps and do a fill-up. I add the two receipts together as if it was one fill-up and then enter the data in my Excel Spreadsheet. Unless it is a long drive, the volume will be basically the same as if the fill-up was at one location. If you keep up with cost per gallon, the number will look a bit strange, otherwise, the data should be 99.9999% accurate.

How's a ventectomy or lack thereof affecting the inoperable filling station pump?

My TDIs have had a ventectomy. Yeah, pressing the vent release for those last two or three gallons can be unpleasant, especially if you need to run inside and pee ...........LOL 😁

But, I do agree, if one is keeping a close eye on fuel consumption, venting to full is the most accurate way to do it, ventectomy or not!

There are just too many to list....
Some pumps won't shut off fast enough to avoid a splash back if the vent is not there. I prefer to just push the vent in with the pump nozzle myself to vent as I top off. No messes unless I do it. I had a car with a removed vent, I ended up putting it back in specifically because of this.

Not all pumps will do this, but some around here certainly do. I've had a diesel soaked shoe before.

Zack ….. could it be the new style pumps that have to be pushed down into the fill neck to operate ? We have them here in Jersey, found out the had way when trying to fill up a gas container….. couldn’t figure out why until the attendant came over and shoved the nozzle into the container and I saw the neck move and gas flowed….. just a thought.

Ventsectomy here, the last gallon I trickle in until I see fuel at the vent. I drive 600 miles in 2 days and saves an extra stop

possibly a plugged filter on the pump. If the pump accurately accounted for what went in your tank your fuel calculations will be fine, it still comes down to input and mileage. Make a note and just calculate it at the next fill up. If it didn't gauge it correctly, then your world has gone to $h!t
