Today, I coded my car for Europe to get the 24 hour clock, that put a big grin on my face.

Then in an attempt to cure my persistently infrequent (maybe once a month, totally unpredictable) P1561/2/3 I pulled the IP electrical connector apart. I have tried 3 other times and failed as it was extremely difficult, and I was afraid to break the plastic. Finally got it loose using an allen to pry the tab, and pop! I sensorkleened it, let it dry, then dielectric greased it. I also re taped up the little bare spot on green wire #2. It was extremely difficult to get the tab to latch and close it properly again, but I finally got it. I took it for a test drive, and I have a feeling it was purely a placebo, but the car felt a lot better... not that it was not running well earlier. It started very well, and drove very well, it just felt good, which is why I think it may be a placebo. I will do a good italian tune up and see how it pulls next time I have it fully warm, but I am feeling a bit hopeful. @Tdijarhead I told you I would keep you up to date, this is where I am.

Third time cutting back the hose on the fuel filter, still dripping. When my dad put the new filter in I think he may have scratched the plastic under the hose. Next I need that piece, and some new fuel hoses. What are they, 8mm?

5/16 is the same stuff
don't waste money on the greenshield stuff, get normal fuel line for a quarter the cost

ETA: I usually go with new line on the suction side, then use the clear line on the return since it doesn't need to seal as high a vacuum as the suction side does

I appreciate that. I’ve been dealing with the MAF connector on my daughters 03 Jetta. I had to replace it and after removing the old one I found that the old one was a replacement. One slot inside the connector was broken resulting in a bad connection and a constant MAF code along with reduced power.

A new connector and she’s back on the road, VCDS shows the actual and requested as mirror images, not the actual as a straight line.

Is it an OEM or and aftermarket?
I installed an aftermarket one and it is somewhat loud.

[486] I believe he added an intank pump to his ALH setup , as did I.

Correct, it's an alh

My airbag light is on and I need it out for a safety, both front seats have implausible inputs, I replace broken wires in both of them. I may have fudged one of the switches assemblies with the first started troubleshooting them, is there a good cheap replacement?

Anybody have a front wheel bearing taken out that came apart, I would like to have a look see if this design would be suitable for thrust bearing in a vertical drill application.

The double ball bearings are made for thrust loads . Should work in your application.

A seatbelt latch with the wires and connector from a different seat may fix your implausible signal..

I love the extra power bump you get with the BEW lift pump, and it makes changing fuel filters a lot easier, BEW style!

Today I used VCDS to reprogram a working Fob I scored (one of many) from local wreckers. Mine (my one and only key) stopped working after a lucky lake swim a couple summers ago. Lucky, cause I didn’t even know it was in the pocket of my shorts.
But yeah !! The VCDS gift just keeps on givin er.
I do need get a second key cut at some point, but refuse to spend the 300-500 dollars my nearest dealership quoted me.
It’s so cool to have remote lock and unlock again; but unfortunately my hatch one doesn’t unlock, which me thinks is cause the remote attached to the hatch came off my parts car. So I guess I’ll have to do a little swap back of the latch remote.
Fixed the kiddos hatch latch assembly today too - I say fixed, because after installing a new one- I was cleaning and playing with the old one and got it to start latching again.
It’s wearing its years (23 to be exact). Lots of rust and crud in there , but that Lucas Moovit penetrating oil spray is my new best friend.
I’ve tried pb blaster, liquid wrench, honey goo, deep creep, but today (probably accumulatively) the bolt holding up a tie rod end on the rear axle of my alh swap van finally let go!
I have mountains of work to do with that van , and removing rusty bolts to change bushings is taking an incredible amount of time and energy.
😅
Just need to remind myself - I’m doing this for the love and the fitness !!

The fob talks to the CCM, which locks and unlocks things. No "latch remote", but the fob button could be bad - does the LED flash when you press it?

Gotta ask: what did that cost you from the fine folk at Uhaul?
I think I paid $1200 after tax. I think I have my bill of sale in the book with my titles, currently in storage. I don't know how many times I've actually used it since I bought it - somewhere between 20 and 30 times, though.

Oh ok- good to know. I’ll try formatting some of the other fobs, the lock and unlock worked perfectly with the doors… so i just guessed it had to do with my donor hatch.
but the hatch locks and unlocks from the door - so it must be fob related.

That’s about what the dolly’s were last time I saw them selling off some of the various “towables”.

For my very casual use, it was just too much for me.

Yesterday I decided to do some plumbing on my recently bought ALH that was babied by a woman its entire life. I think this could explain the lack of power. On the bright side, the stock clutch feels butter smooth with zero rattle sound with just over 200k miles. Turbo is stock and also isn't clogged. Go figure.

When I asked about a trailer, they said they never sell it off because it's so easily identifiable in case of theft

Today is the first road trip /commute after all the major work. I hear some vibrations of our highly cruising I hope it's just a new engine mounts.

Want to see some bling? Check out the f fancy new shifter knob

I have a hose permanently connected to my intake. When my intake was like that it actually jammed up my anti-shudder valve and I barely got home one day. I ran half gallon of good degreaser through the hose turbo and intercooler all to the intake while running, and then another half a gallon of diluted degreaser in water, very slowly over about 60 miles. My intake passages so clear you could eat off of it. Well except for the oil that keeps accumulating, I really need a oil catch can

Yes, no car hauler trailers, just a little dolly. I think that's where we got off track, I was looking for an actual car hauler

That sounds much easier than pulling everything off and soaking it, isn't it a bit risky though? Like all that junk getting sucked through the engine, degreaser, water, and carbon bits?

I've only done it the hard way, and one of the nuts was rust/corrosion welded onto the stud so I ended up having to carefully dremel it off while trying not to damage the threads... if this is fine, I'd much rather do it the easy way.
