Wow, thats awesome. You can't even get a rusted out wagon shell around here for free.
I'd have that in my driveway in asap!
i don't have a trailer lol but i found a coworker who's bf has one and told him i'd pay him to bring it to me.. luckily just down the road. otherwise i guess i'll try my luck with a uhaul or something. idk if it'll actually end up being worth anything but i guess we'll see.

Nice. That or a tow strap and someone to step on the brakes. Done that a few times.
If its a manual its worth something. Maybe in your area it may not be as much if tdi's arent much of a thing. Idk for sure. Up here I can sell tdi parts all day long. Whole engines, Heads, pumps, transmissions all sell here for decent profit.

Being that it is a wagon I would try to save it tho.

my plan is to try and save it.. but i'm not holding my breath lol. there are very very very few, like maybe a handful of people even in my general area on this forum and it's rare to see them driving around. there's one or two i see regularly and i keep leaving tdiclub cards (the ones from the template i got from here) and so far no dice. i've never seen a mkiv for sale on any site within 50 miles of my location in years either.

That's sad. Well that probably explains why I couldn't find any for sale when I was down there in myrtle beach (or any in NC or SC for that matter) a couple years ago. At least not on FB or Craigslist.

I didn’t want to make a whole new thread but I had a great laugh at the vw dealership today. I asked about car history for that car and the lady tried to say they couldn’t because of HIPPA. Lol

The good news: The ABS fault code isn't a bad sensor, so I don't have to wrestle that SOB-thing out of there.
The bad new: it's the wiring. Cut into it ~8" back from the connector and one wire was dirty-copper-colored, the other was pretty much straight-up black.

So....I get to pull pins out of the ABS module connector.
yay ☹

I contemplated testing my wheel speed sensors by unplugging the connector and ohming them there.

Then I saw where the conntector was. Nope.

The snake snuck back up in the rear bumper of the jetta, fished him out again. Also found like 8 rotten and degraded underbody grommets (sp?) and got the replacements to plug them up. I didn't realize there were so many drain holes in the floor. Luckily going through from underneath you could feel the foam/carpeting and it was not wet.

Wow. Not cool. Had a guy do that to me once, told him I was coming to pick up a truck, had the trailer and everything, ok all good. So I drive halfway there, like three hours, stayed night at friends place and then he texted me the next morning “oh yeah it’s gone” 😡😡

That's why I keep a box of pigtails cut from parts car harnesses, with alligator clips on the ends. Unplug the connector, plug in the pigtail, connect clips to meter probes.

Yah...dem forkin' no-good heathens are out there. The big downside is it makes me more paranoid about jumping on a real seller...

I've had plenty of bad experiences as a seller and buyer. Anymore when I'm done with something it goes to the scrap yard. Just don't need to deal with the tire kickers, nor do I ahve the time. As a buyer I've been ghosted, and had stuff sold out from under me. Never a good feeling.

I have replacement sensors already, so was able to test with a new one and see if I could clear the code....nada. So, I mean, could be the sensor is bad, too, but regardless, the wiring has to be replaced for-absolute-sure. And then added bonus, rear sensor threw a code just now, too. That one is sensor (plug in new one and the error doesn't come back). So, off comes the LR brake, too.

I would have showed up in his driveway and said "No truck? OK, I'll take that car."

This actually happened to my wife and I. In a way I haven't gotten over it. I've read somewhere that "Before the written word was the spoken word and that was your bond." We actually had a verbal agreement and then he sold the car to another. I did lose faith in my fellow man, but it was just one man, I have been gifted twenty fold since that time by incredible people and I am inspired to keep pace, to do good while here on earth.

After 345k miles and about 2 years of having overboost codes (resulting in limp mode) I purchased a new turbo from IDParts. Had it installed and picked it up to find out I had no power. Long story short, ended up replacing Orem vacuum hoses (that were only 5 years old) with silicone hoses. Jetta is running like new again!
