Took my son's Golf to Kraftwerke for a little attention. I thought it needed engine mounts when I drove it a few months ago. But it's been at my house for a couple weeks now, and when I drove it earlier this week the wheel bearings seemed loud. As did the all seasons I had just mounted. And the driver's door lock module was acting flakey.
Well it for sure needed hub and bearings. Here's what we removed.
So it got two new rear wheel hub and bearings, rear brakes (those were squealing sometimes, we think affected by the very tired and loose bearings), new rear springs (ride in the rear was a little low when my son's tools are in the car), and a new driver's door lock module. It's tall, but height looks correct.
We also found out that the all seasons, after 1 year, are pretty badly chopped, and one appears to have a belt that's moved. I may gift the car with the Nokian WR-4s I just put on my Golf. Then I get to buy new tires!
Car drives much better. It's actually remarkably tight and smooth, given it just rolled over 477K miles on the way home.
