As of today, the 4Motion rear suspension assembly and Haldex is finally reassembled after being stripped down and powder coated. We also replaced all of the bushings, though one pair is from Powerflex because the OEM ones apparently no longer exist globally. You can also see the H&R rear sway bar to go along with the H&R coilovers that will eventually be installed front and back.

Put the ID Parts "Beef on a Budget" spring set and 10mm front spacers on the 06 Golf. Running those with newer Koni Reds.

Really firmed up the ride. Best $100 I've spent!

Peter - I'm interested in your feedback on the Cross Climate's after you get some more miles on them. I put a set on this summer.
Not Peter, but I've had Cross Climate tires on my tuned TDI for a year now, and have to say I really like them.
Good grip on wet or dry pavement, and passable on snow as long as it's not packed down to a sheet of ice.

Not noisy, though possibly not as quiet as a purely touring tire might be.
I'm theoretically pushing 140hp and 240tq, and unless I get stupid with it, they've held traction everywhere I've gone, other than the couple weeks of snow and ice earlier this winter.

Another CrossClimate+ and 2 user. Got the + installed about 65k ago and will replace with 2's. Running 205/60-16 and the 2 was not out when I got the +. Put 2's on wife's Mazda3, and + on son's Jetta(195/65-15).
cheers,
Douglas

Installed a new interstate MTP 94R battery today. Old one installed in 2015 called it quits on a cold start this am. I must of jinxed it bragging about it in another thread last week singing it’s praises for a 6deg cold start. Oh well $197 out the door I hope I get 6+ years out of this one as well. Shoot, I hope I get 6 more years out if my car haha!

Got the loose tone ring issue fixed. New bearing and hub. In 15F weather...LOL Two missing screws on the aftermarket one( a rebuilt pair of 288mm knuckles for bigger brakes ). Took the screws out of the new one and used high strength/high temp green loctite and hope I never have to look at 'em again. Did the ABS sensor too. Cleaning up the bore with a dremel and sanding drum left that bit of the job easy.

Now I have to decide if I will keep running the ALH for a bit, or if it is back to the BEW. Probably back to BEW... :)
cheers,
Douglas

Don't get me wrong, it's a little rough around the edges, both passenger doors, gate, and quarter panel have damage. Was a stolen recovery. But it runs super well and trans doesn't slip at all.

You could tow that with your beetle no problem...you'll need to come up with a better excuse than that :)
Not in its current state. The brakes are decent, the low power issue, not so much. I did receive my .205 injectors from DFIS today - hoping this resolves my power issue.

I do have a 1993 Ford Ranger, but the 5 spd. Very weak towing capability with that. It's essentially a small compact car with a bed.

@03TDICommuter ,
So you put an ALH with an 02j in the Ranger. Voila!
Get after benmarks to show you how to do the 4motion... :)

Just re-starter-ed the '02 ALH. It got a new H8 and still was slow on the key down. A new Valeo is in, and that beast is a fire breather.

And thanks for the reminder to keep after the maint on Lurch. that puppers will drag anything...LOL
cheers,
Douglas

What a steal! Cool to see. Your buddy should do a TB job ASAP!
Car is still in my driveway, I'm going to order a kit from idparts here soon, but want to pull the valve cover and check the cam/followers first.

Worked on my buddies 05 wagon this morning. Replaced a few missing fuses, replaced the burnt out bulbs, cleaned the EGR valve, and inspected the camshaft. Definitely needs a new one. Shame the Frank0 stage 2 cams for a BEW are so darned pricey. Probably going to go with idpaparts billet kit instead for now.

Not today, but on Saturday, forgot to mention I ran my car through emissions, first time since having my stage 4, passed flying colors. Helps I actually have everything on still ;)

Yeah, I had the same slight anxiety when I went through DEQ for the same reasons for the 1st time.

This most recent time in October, I almost failed due to a broken OBD port. They couldn't get their connector to stay in place long enough. Luckily, on literally the 10th try, it worked.

As I continue to drive her with the new lightweight wheels I have discovered that off idle acceleration and low rpm pull in second both have improved a ton, and believe it or not the transmission is shifting more smoothly. One slightly negative thing: nose lifts up a bit on takeoff - I guess the torque that was used to get the wheels rotating is now finding a new outlet. Not a big deal and don’t want stiffer springs so….
