Trip 2 resets itself after a certain number of miles or time. Normal operation.
Yeah I know, I spent the weekend wondering how I managed to accumalate 20hrs worth of driving time

Sunday night I just found out about the 'real' trip odo

To stay on topic, I poured out two water bottles while trying to wash off some not so fresh bird dropings with only two McD napkins on hand :(
Only to realize the stupid water left more spots....been using filtered water now to rinse anything off...but I don't know how efficient our aged tap filter is ;)

I changed out my stock running lights for some nice error free LED lights! I know its a small little thing, however this is the first modification to the new TDI that I have done myself, I was always getting help from my more experienced VW friends like with the interior LED's and radio install. It felt good to be back in the groove of working on my own car!

Before:

After:

I also took off my front plate and the plug mod for it. Doesn't look too bad, I might end up tossing a Euro plate on the front anyways. (my actual number and letter combination, nothing crazy)

Well the other day I replaced the battery.

My factory battery gave up holding a charge anymore after just 29 months, 138,500 miles, ~5000 engine hours with the headlights on and a huge parasitic load the car wasn't designed for; and I'd guess another 3000-4000 more hours of the parasite electrical load without the benefit of the enging running......just couldn't give any more I guess.

well I did the most exciting thing ever. I hit that push start button like a true bad a** and trotted along in my 2012 jetta today. Oh how gloriously smooth it rides compared to my 2010 ram 2500 haha:cool::cool:

Went to the dealer and got an alignment...they loved the car lol...the tech said "it pulls like a train!!" and the service writer said it sounded like a jet lol

Then had a little game of tag with a mk6 gti he didnt do so well keeping up lol... you know when your tdi is quick when the gti flags you down to ask what the heck was done to my car lol..

A few days after I picked up my 2013 TDI Premium I did this:
Washed, clay bar, waxed with a buffer, gloss enhancer, luster enhancer, final quick detailer wipe down & also waxed the rims. The car looked almost invisible with that mirror reflection.

Yes great job on the wax. Today i signed all the final financing paperwork for my new 2013 Jetta TDI. I have the dealer dipping the the rims to change them to black and also recieved my black badging to put on it when I pick it up Tuesday. I think the black with the grey color will look good together.

That looks awesome! I thought you ran into a bush cause all I saw was the reflection :p
I definitely need to do this especially after my paper towel incident

Thank you thank you, this was the combination I used, took 2 hour max if y have a buffer:
Soap and water
Clay bar
Cleaner glaze
Polymer sealer
Liquid carnuba
Then just a quick detailer around the car and windows

The products were Wet Mirror and some German made gloss/luster enhance my gf dad had

I added a set of new wheels to my 2013 TDI today. The wheels are OEM 18in Bristols that came off of a Passat. Below is the before and after. the after pic doesn't do them justice. They really make the car look much better, and IMO the offset is perfect for these cars. I hope they don't kill my MPG too much.

Went for my 20,000 mile service. Found out that if you don't hit 20,000 in 27 months from manufactured date of the car they skip over it and do the 30,000 mile change.

Wish I knew that before.

That's kind of shady that they don't mention that. luckily, I am close to 8000 miles in less than 2 months, so should reach each mark on time.

Gone!
Just over a year into ownership and had my 20k service done yesterday.

Not as impressive as Dozenspeed's milage, but at least 3k more miles in a year than I've ever put on any previous car in over 10 years.

I'd like to buy your old wheels, but Rockford is a bit of a ride from St. Louis.....

Just throwin' that out there....;)

Found out that the plate screws from the dealer bottom out just enough to leave a mark...arggggg

Since removed until I can grind them down a millimeter or two

Thanks, but I think I going to keep them and possibly put winter tires on them.
