Not all Wolfsburg seats are heated, I pulled a set out of a Wolfsburg to put in my Golf years ago and still had to transplant the heating elements out of my originals into them.

Oh OK, maybe cuz I'm way up north...but I've never seen a Wolfsburg without heated seats haha.

My 01 came with heated seats. The funny thing was that I didn't order it with heated seats. It was an option, but I didn't pick it. I remember when we picked it up, the salesman was in the back seat pointing out all the stuff, and there were the heated seats. Later I rechecked the bill, and there was no mention of the heated seat package or any extra charge, so I basically got them for free.

I almost never use them (I like to stay frosty when driving:D), but my wife does all the time. Works pretty good considering that passenger seat has been in use for about 14 years now.

in 1999 when I bought my first mkIV Jetta the salesman told me the heated seats were part of the Cold Weather Package that the dealership ordered for all their deliveries. So I asked what kind of block heater was installed and he said none... lmao @ cold weather package but I gave him my money anyway

I pulled them out of a regular GTI that had the same build date than my Jetta 9/99. Some say heat was never an option on those particular seats and then again there are the Wolfsburg seats which look the same and some are heated, I guess it's a mystery! :)

I bought a set of those for my Golf several years ago. They were heated. I removed the heater elements, don't like heated seats.

Why not just not hook them up? A lot less trouble than removing the elements (unless you were able to sell them for an exorbitant profit!)? :D

Someone wanted the elements. And the car they were going in didn't have the heated seat harnesses.

I have a set of elements and don't know how to install them in my new beetle seats.

I wouldn't make it through the winters without my heated cloth seats. My seats are nice and toasty long before my car is making any kind of noticeable heat from the heater core.

We've got em in both the TDI and GTI. But they take longer to heat up with the GTI's leather seats. I assume the foam used is denser or something. (The TDI doesn't have leather.)

And ya, we ordered them with the GTI. It's my wife's car and she likes the heated seats so she wanted them.

I've only used them very rarely...like if it's -40 and I'm freezing to death. Even then I don't use it often. I'm more worried about the car than my butt. :)

Installed the ID parts down pipe with a new cat, exhaust smells a little better and I can actually here the turbo whistle ever so slightly telling me I am flowing more exhaust. This set up is not as restrictive as stock. After 210,000 miles I am sure the old cat was getting plugged up. When I disconnected the original down pipe behind the cat I was really surprised at how much crap came out of the pipe!

Installed new vacuume Pump to replace the Leakey one I've had for a while, yes, I know you can change the seal, I screwed that up by putting too thick of an O ring in, warped the case and caused poor performance both from the pump and turbocharger response.
Also changed out steering rack for a quiet one.

My "low mileage" ( I got it at 80k, 135k now) chassis is proving to be more troubble than my previous 275k one was before it was totaled.

I noticed over the past couple days that I was getting a ticking noise so decided to investigate today. I was secretly hoping the flex pipe was leaking so that I had a good excuse to order one of Buzzken's 2.5" down pipes from Fixmyvw.com, but I wasn't so fortunate. Turns out cylinder #1 was leaking compression past the injector. I didn't have a spare crush washer so I just heated it up cherry red and re-installed it. After the initial torque to 15 lb ft, I attached my slide hammer to the injector and rapped it a couple times to seat the injector. I then torqued it again to 15 lb ft. Did that a couple times then hooked the line back up. No more leaking.

After that I installed my Diesel Geek Sigma 5 shifter and I must say I am thoroughly impressed. Should have gotten that a while ago. Hopefully tomorrow, weather permitting, I will get my heated seats wired up. The garage is temporarily occupied so I have to work on it outside. I ordered a harness from Germany off of Ebay and I am impressed. It uses OEM connectors and seems to be as close to factory as you're going to get. This is what I ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/391049039031?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

After the seats are wired up I need to get my hitch installed.

Installed Koni yellow shocks on the rear end of the Jetta wagon. Pulling off the old ones (320K km - doubt they were ever changed)....I mean, wow. The bumpers were so shot, if the rod of the shock wasn't going through the middle of them, I'm sure they would've been little more than dust. Never seen a set that "done".

Ended up replacing my alternator tonight instead of installing the heated seats harness. I was getting an intermittent howling noise coming from the engine. I pulled the serpentine belt off and sure enough the bearings felt rough in the alternator. Took it back to AutoZone and got it replaced for free under warranty. I managed to get 3 years and 75k miles out of that crappy replacement. Not too bad and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

How robust are the blue mounting brackets? I have the Panzer plate on my car and my initial impression is that they are more robust than the Atlas brackets, but then again, I have never physically handled the Atlas plate. With that said, the shape of the Atlas plate looks like it might have more ground clearance than the Panzer plate. I like how the Atlas plate is installed by just loosening the rear bolts without removing them. I can see that making it much easier to remove and put back in. I was originally planning on buying the Atlas but only bought the Panzer because a young poor sap off of VWVortex, local to me, bought it and put it in his garage and forgot about it (never installed it). He was then strapped for cash and listed it for half of what he paid for it. I jumped on that one quick.

Awesome video, by the way. Wish there were more quality how-to videos like that on the web.

Yes - very good install video. You wouldn't believe how much you'd enjoy a cordless impact gun for tasks like that, though. :)
(PS. I liked your Mac Mini(HDD) vs. Mini(SSD) video, too - I don't think people realize what a game-changer a relatively inexpensive SSD can be. :D)

Almost there...

This morning. And not bad half tank economy for short trips in snow and cold.

I finally got mine running over the weekend! Installed a new cam, lifters, and fixed the lower IC Tube with a buddy who is a vw tech and she runs good. 29psi WOT.

It feels good to post about a diesel... I am minding things while my brother is out west on business. Silly guy left the keys to his new BMW 328d with me. OMG, this is not helping my desire to trade 4-5 cars in for a 328d wagon. Anyway, I went to the car wash and it was one where a crew of people dry after. They all stared as I took a pristine towel from the barrel and redid it my way. I am trying to figure out how I can leave a '99 Audi A4 Avant and go home in the BMW.

Used a turkey baster to suck-out my old brown power steering fluid and refilled it with some new green fluid. Plan on driving it for a day and repeat the steps again just to make sure I get the most of the old fluid out.

Yes, I know would not be able to get all the old Oil out this way, I will get most of it out and it only takes a few minutes too

On Wednesday (25 Feb) I changed the fuel filter on my 4-dr. I figured that it would cure the no-start that had caused it to stay overnight at work. The temps were warm enough in the afternoon that fuel gelling would not be a problem (still below freezing, but...), but when I changed the filter I also noticed the probable cause of the large air bubbles in the clear fuel line - 2 of the hose clamps were loose. My fault, too! Arrrgh!

But, the filter was beyond the time to change anyway, so I'm not out anything except a little inconvenience. Primed the filter and then the lines to 1 and 4, then it fired up with about 10 seconds of cranking. Started right up this morning; problem solved.

Cheers!
