I've got to replace my windshield again too. They get pitted...usually in spring, winter, and fall...with all the sand and crap that gets put on the roads for grip.

Funny...my front end and hood are protected with that 3M rock guard stuff, but my poor windshield gets pelted. This will be my second replacement since 2001...so not too bad I guess.

you are lucky, I am on my 5th windshield, and am going to have to replace it soon, i don't think the patches i keep putting on it are gonna make a difference.

Saturday I did the VCDC mods for - Fogs plus high beams, DRL off with blinker, DRL light off on dash, Hillhold gone, Open and close windows with remote, Fourways on with ABS, Teardrop w/rear window wiper, and Celebration.

Today I'm going to change the blinker count and wash it.

After dumping / leaking at least 700mL of brake fluid onto my driveway while replacing clutch master cylinder, I ordered new o-ring, which was superseded by o-ring / nipple combo

(1K0798741)
THIRTY DOLLARS?!!?

But that worked. Popped in, clipped down, bolted down the clutch pedal bracket, bled --> done.

Bought all fluids filters for a 50k overhaul, turned up my JBD tune box to 100%, washed and waxed the car, installed rubber floor mats, next will be hardwiring my Valintine 1...

I was tired of resting my forefinger in the hole at the bottom of the steering wheel. My finger naturally gravitates there when I grip the wheel at the bottom.

So I epoxied the hole closed and covered the whole trim piece in Carbon fiber to match the dash trim I wrapped earlier.

Yesterday....coveted the MkVII GTI.
Stopped by my local dealer to pick up a part and sitting in the showroom was a 2015 GTI - totally optioned out (full leather and tech package - $3200 in options).

It was purrrrrrdy....but with an after-taxes/fees price of $42.5K, I'll be passing on that.

If this is the price of the GTI, I'm guessing a GTD (were it to actually arrive here), would come in at close to $45K.
(All prices CDN and include VW Canada's $1400 PDI/Freight, plus 12% taxes.)

Welcome to Canadian pricing.

We pay a lot more for our vehicles than you guys. Personally I think they are just screwing us because they can. Then they put all kinds of restrictions on buying new cars from the states....like they won't honour the warranty.

What ever happened to free trade.

Sacrificed to the liberal desire for more revenue through higher taxes. Funny, "Free Trade" started out as a liberal concept; of course that was 200 years ago! Ideally with NAFTA, there wouldn't be ANY barriers to buying across the Canada/U.S. border.

Maybe it is trip number related? Sometimes cars have different "trip" settings: one for cumulative, and another for since last trip meter was reset.

Okay, someone tell me why there is a little 2 on the upper right of my display....

I only have one.
No you don't man. Check your manual.

Roman is exactly correct on his assumption. Memory 1 is a "per trip" count that resets after, if I remember correctly, being parked for approx 2 hours.

Memory 2 is a memory that only resets every 999 miles or when you reset it, whichever comes first. For info on how to reset it, consult your owners manual.

I finally had someone explain it on Facebook. It's the average indicators, but there is still only one trip odometer.

Changed brake pads and rotors...The old pads had ~90k miles on them and the rotors were originals with ~210k on them. They didn't owe me anything :). I put Akebono pads on all around this time. OEM pads lasted ~120k miles, replaced them with Pagid's which lasted ~90k miles.

I considered going with a 288mm or 312mm upgrade but couldn't justify the cost vs benefit as I've never had any issues with the OEM brakes (when they don't look like the below ones I just took off :))

Installed Sigma 6 short shifter. Works perfectly! I had to adjust side-to-side cable end a few times or first gear wouldn't engage. Took me about 40 min to install with adjustment. Another 30 to get the box wrench that fell behind transmission :(

Instead of taking air box apart like instructions suggested I removed plastic U pipe and a snorkel, unbolted one bolt that holds the filter box down and moved the whole thing to the side, securing it by tie-down.
